To admit that maybe I am attractive?

When I was a teenager, I struggled badly with acne, and it completely shattered my confidence. I couldn’t even look at myself in the mirror. I dated a few people, and sometimes others would comment that I was much more attractive than the guy I was with - saying things like I was “out of his league.” But I never believed them. I always saw myself as pretty average.

Then somehow, I ended up with someone I found incredibly handsome, and I couldn’t wrap my head around why he was drawn to me or thought I was attractive.

Lately though, it feels like something has shifted - like a lightbulb moment. I can finally see myself the way others seem to. And without trying to sound big-headed, I do think I’m fairly attractive. I’ve noticed that people tend to treat me more kindly because of it (which doesn’t really seem fair, honestly). If I went to a bar with friends, I would often be hit on by people who are attractive. Once, I was even approached by a legitimate modeling agency.

So you agree? You think you’re really pretty?

Bitter people in this thread. Enjoy being attractive, and it doesn't fade that quickly. Looks, intelligence, money, these are all good things to have if you're lucky. We can lose them overnight, so enjoy it.

Fucks sake

Everyone gets old and ugly eventually. Even the truly beautiful. And everyone is fairly beautiful when they're young - so look at yourself with kind eyes and enjoy it!

This is untrue. I know many older, beautiful women. Far more than I know ugly ones.

YANBU until you said you've been approached by a modelling agency....then there's nothing else really to discuss is there? It sounds like you're fishing now.

HaggisMcHaggisface · 31/10/2025 00:03

Good on you. It sounds like you have developed in your thinking. That's great.

Despite my username i have done something similar. Terrible skin can really trash your confidence!

Cluborange666 · 30/10/2025 23:59

Enjoy being beautiful. Everyone should love themselves.

Waitingfordoggo · 30/10/2025 23:58

It must be nice to be good-looking but I don’t see it as important. Good-looking people probably do get a slightly easier time in life overall (especially if they’re also reasonably privileged in other ways, which many of us in the UK are). But in the grand scheme of things- it doesn’t mean anything, it’s just a genetic lottery isn’t it?

Oh no - I didn't think it had posted, so I retyped it all!

Sounds like you’re quite young. Not to minimise but in 20 years you might realise how trivial all these thoughts about your looks are. It’s better to relax, enjoy your youth and focus on things that really matter in life….turn your focus outward instead of obsessing over yourself

Being pretty is all very nice but what other qualities do you like about yourself?
Looks eventually fade.

This ten fold.
Yay. You've been lucky eventually in the looks lottery. But to be truly happy love yourself for far more important things

TeaAndTattoos · 30/10/2025 23:51

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder as they say.
All I can take from this is that its great your confidence has grown from being shattered when you were younger
