There are so many wonderful examples of these, please share your favourites. Bonus points for links.

I remember one when OP was annoyed if the cost of children's birthday gifts weren't higher than the cost of hosting the party per child.

And the classic from a few weeks ago when OP thought it was ok to block the shared driveway and thought their neighbour who lived at the end was the unreasonable one.

I bet there are better ones out there though...

Has anyone mentioned the post about DIL giving hed husband a certain look to hint at him to pour her a glass of FILs wine because he didn't offer her any?

Proudestmumofone1 · 31/07/2025 05:40

oh my dear lord I owe you one @RimTimTagiDim for posting the super soaker thread. You provided endless entertainment on a sleepless night - absolutely epic. Beyond.

PS did the OP ever return with other threads?!! I need to know more!

CrocsNotDocs · 31/07/2025 05:14

This was funny, especially as a lot of posters thought the neighbours were being reasonable.

Special mention also for the maternity leave poster who devised a scheme to ensure her husband didn't disturb her or bubz when leaving the house en route to work every morning.

She wanted him to climb out of the living room window rather than use the front door.

Most displeased was she, as I recall, that he was reluctant to comply.

TBF, I have always been baffled by that one. What kind of mum puts her teenaged daughter in a bedroom with a strange man?

I agree that the arrangement was strange, but why is Mrs Frank getting all the blame? Mr Frank was there too!

The question of Anne's sleeping arrangements is not just a MN pre-occupation. It's one of those headline questions on Google and also has several threads on Reddit.

itsgettingweird · 31/07/2025 05:11

Forever the super soaker thread.

OP just couldn’t get she was BU despite 1000’s of posts explaining exactly why she was BU.

nolongersurprised · 31/07/2025 04:55

The one where the poster was angry because her husband didn’t make her lunch.

She had spent the morning having a lie in, followed by a long bath and was drying her hair when her husband had come home.

He had been up early, fed the two children and taken them out to swimming lessons and made them lunch at home. She was annoyed because he was just relaxing on his iPad for a bit rather than making her lunch as well.

PennyRest · 31/07/2025 04:46

That absolutely mad one about dolphins being arseholes. Funniest thing ever and if anyone can link it I’d love to read it again. It was just SO unreasonable.

DuesToTheDirt · 31/07/2025 04:43

Dave and the canestan. I'm not sure if it was an AIBU but it's now in Classics.

Edit: sorry, not paying attention (it's 4.44 a.m. after all). It's not an unreasonable AIBU, just a very funny one.

JFC that screaming in the Sistene chapel one is a corker.

MsAmerica · 31/07/2025 02:19

To me, most of the AIBU are in the wrong forum, and what MN needs, among other things, is an Etiquette forum, which is where most of them belong.

The one where OP invited a romantic interest on holiday, realised she didn’t like him that way and then went AWOL, then booked him a flight home the same evening and he had no idea what he had done wrong 😂

Could I have handled this better? Made him leave | Mumsnet

OMG!!! I have heard of screaming in the Sistene Chapel, but never read it before. Well, I just started reading it, and didn't even making it to the end of page 1 before I was shaking with mirth and had actual tears streaming down both cheeks. I'm trying not to wake anyone else (or have an asthma attack, which is what happened last time I spent ages laughing uncontrollably), so will resume at a more sensible hour!

TBF, I have always been baffled by that one. What kind of mum puts her teenaged daughter in a bedroom with a strange man?

Me too. I remember saying the same thing to my mum not long ago. I didn’t realise it was an odd thing to think!

It's quite a few years ago now but I still remember the woman who was furious with the sharing arrangements devised by the Frank family in hiding- obviously Mrs Frank should have gone in with the girls and Fritz Pfeffer with Otto. Pure madness (or maybe conspiracy theorist).

The penis beaker is the only reason I ever learned of the existence of mumsnet :) It made it to Twitter, and I was intrigued.

I actually didn't like the sound of the op and felt a bit sorry for Barbara.

Why?

Topsyturvy78 · 31/07/2025 01:13

1 I will always remember I think it got deleted I can't find it. But her brother had taken in a nephew. Not long before the OP's child had a birthday and received a Lego set of brother worth about £50. So when a short time later it was the child he had taken in as his own birthday. They got him a DS all the other children in the house had a DS he liked playing on them they wanted him to have his own.

So OP's DC starts winging saying that's not fair. OP thought the child should have had the same amount spent on him. Even though he was living with them full time. They threw in that he had also had a bike bought for him when he went to live with them. The family go on bike rides so of course they didn't want him to be the only family member without a bike. The OP couldn't see that they were wrong and that it was a gift to make him feel equal to the other children in the house.

The one who refused to say why her child would be sharing a room with their uncle in the holiday home... so that an empty room could be used if someone got ill. Or something

Yes to this! I think it was a wind up, tho…

Topsyturvy78 · 31/07/2025 00:10

There was 1 a few weeks ago no wee or poo involved. The woman and child ran away and the dog eat all their food. Took a while for owner to come looking for the dog.

I remember that, but the one I was thinking of was a few years ago and I’m pretty sure it was on a beach rather than in a park.

Fraggeek · 31/07/2025 00:34

I revisit that when I need a belly laugh 🤣

The one a few months back where an ex teacher who came across an ex pupil in the care home her husband was in who was rude to her. It transpired the op had been really abusive as a teacher but wanted to know if she should report the carer for being rude but got 99% piled on for being abusive when she was a teacher. I was the first one to reply

I remember that 1 as well.

Topsyturvy78 · 31/07/2025 00:13

I'm not sure if it was an AMBU but someone had planned to name their baby Jimmy for a boy. But they found out they were having a girl so wanted to name her Jimberly.😂😂😂 Omg the comments.
