I feel pissed because Tomorrow I was supposed to be going on holiday for New Year

My holiday got cancelled on Boxing Day just after the final ticket e'mail came through. They had double booked the Chalet. My £3000 flights are still booked, feel like turning up to chalet anyway and knocking the door down. I am so angry, how can they do this to people.

If you’ve got £3k to spend on flights
surely you can find some £ for somewhere else to stay? Assuming you’ve been refunded for the accommodation?

or claim on travel insurance?

Edited

Just because someone has spent money doesn’t mean they have a magic money tree. I almost lost a £3k holiday due to heavy snow in NYC and weather isn’t covered by insurance. I couldn’t have coughed up another £3k as I had been saving for 2 years.

I had no idea how full Ski resorts are at New Year.

Goodness me, I'm sorry this has happened to you but really, do you live at the ass-end of nowhere?

I was out in my heavily-touristed city yesterday and the whole place was heaving.
It was like swimming through a shoal of fish to get to where I was headed.

Tourism is the nr. 1 "business" in the world and I think post Covid people are realising "It's now or never".

360redred · 30/12/2024 11:06

I thought it was strange too but that's what all the locals are calling it.

I honestly spend all day looking for an alternative, nothing was available, Hotel or Chalet. I had no idea how full Ski resorts are at New Year.

'influenza' are you a bot?

LadyBlackBurd · 27/12/2024 23:59

Are the flights to Geneva?

put a post up on chaletsdirect.com. You will definitely get a last minute chalet for new year.

Ifitaintgotnoswing · 27/12/2024 23:49

Surprised you cant claim flights on travel insurance ? Unless you dont have it.

What does this mean? Surely flights "to a country with chalets" will cost more or less depending where in the world you are flying from? OP uses the phrase "pissed" when in the UK we'd typically say "pissed off" so perhaps she's flying from the States?

@360redred - can you clarify?

Yes I wondered why she was feeling drunk, due to this issue

ChestnutsOnTheFire · 27/12/2024 23:33

Can't you book somewhere else to stay?

360redred · 27/12/2024 23:31

Just got angry and tearful when it all happened, I think I am calming down now. Realised after reading these posts much more worries than mine in the world. I don't think it helped I had Influenza (I think) last week and haven't eaten anything for 5 days. Slept through most of Christmas, Couldn't move a muscle - Horrid. Anyway am on the mend now and going to make the most of the next few days of the Holidays.

Hi, I'm uk, just tried to fit into line. 5 of us on flight from Bristol.

OP posts:
360redred · 27/12/2024 23:23

Didn't get a refund for Flights.

OP posts:
360redred · 27/12/2024 23:22

They have tried everywhere today but nothing at all suitable available.

OP posts:
360redred · 27/12/2024 23:21

It was for five of us. We live in Devon so flights from Bristol are expensive.

OP posts:
360redred · 27/12/2024 23:20

We don't think you can claim flight but we will try.

You can only book accommodation if it’s available, there’s a good chance that nothing will be at short notice.

and just because someone can afford one thing doesn’t mean they have infinite amount of money and can afford everything else

Yep, OP could have been saving up that money.

Bournetilly · 27/12/2024 19:50

Can you not book new accommodation?

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 27/12/2024 19:49

artfuldodgerjack · 27/12/2024 19:23

If you can afford £3000 tickets, you can afford to book something else for your accommodation, especially as you'll be getting a refund!

How is a flight to a country with chalets costing three grand?!!

Find somewhere else to stay. No way would I waste £3000 worth of flights
