To plan on getting quite drunk at my work Christmas party?

I’m started working as a nurse about 4 months ago. Next week is my teams work night out. Our ward is split into 4 teams and mines is definitely filled with the youngest people. Our band 6 really likes a drink and is quite a crazy lady I think and people really like her for it.
This is my first big girl job so I’ve never had a professional staff Christmas party before. Do people actually get super drunk or will I be embarrassing myself just by getting drunk?

Well, I know one girl that had to leave her job after the work night out. She was so embarrassed. And to be fair, she really did need to leave after it.
no. I wouldn’t plan on getting drunk. I used to plan to drive or stay reasonable. It was awful watching some of the drunk antics.

Details please,,,,,!

I mean, good for you, but don’t make that a piece of instruction for others.

She can do what she wants to. I just have had friends make fools of themselves at a Christmas do, and passed over for promotion. I also had another get done for drunk driving and lose their license. I’ve never thought it a good idea to lose control at work events.

All things in moderation, don't add anything to the many threads about drunken work Christmas parties. @Patterncarmen you have made some useful observations.

No wonder she had to leave with colleagues like this.

sure. I’m not advising getting legless either. But this was all in response to someone saying “one small drink of you have to, and then stop”. That’s right at the other extreme. There’s a place nicely in the middle.

Do any of the people replying work for NHS? My sister does and so did my Mum and their work parties or nights out everyone got absolutely smashed.

Lol my mum is a nurse and she told one year that she got so hammered she was sat on a doctors lap. She didn’t want to go back in on Monday 😬
