I was going to say something like this. There's also the fact that with every couple in every family I've ever known, (including my parents, aunts and uncles, grandparents, nieces and nephews, friends, and me and DH;) it's the woman that does the ironing. And women have just had enough of it.
I'm sure a bunch of people are gonna come out here to tell him me that their dad, Grandad, husband, son, uncle, son in law, nephew. grandfather, and every man they have ever known, has always done his own ironing (and the whole family's!) Coz that's what always happens when someone says something like that on here.
But the fact is, in the vast, vast majority cases it's a woman doing all the ironing. It's a tedious, boring, thankless job, nobody likes it, and in the vast majority of cases, the stuff doesn't need to be ironed. I haven't ironed anything in 20 years. In fact, it's probably longer than that. Maybe 25 years or more.
I don't even do that much in the house now. Just the basic stuff. Just the bits you can see. DH does bits here and there but not much. He has never done a lot in the house. So I don't either now. Not since the kids left a decade ago. My house isn't a stinking flea pit, and the kitchen and bathroom are usually neat and clean. It's just not a super immaculate house all the time.
