to tell son NOT to post memes of black people

Please help me . Huge row with 11 year old.

His friend posted a meme of a black person with "bombastic side eye".

He wants to repost it to some silly comment.

I said it is wrong and not the right thing to do even if the person "bombastic side eye" posted it himself on tin tok.

Please give me your thoughts.

Sure. They can be educated. Part of that education is using racial slurs has consequences. A consequence is losing friends.

It's not my kids job to teach people not to be racist.

I remember years ago someone on Twitter or FB posting this in relation to a reality show (then poster was black) and it blew up. Loads of people proceeded to use it, memes made, gifs made and many people saying it got them watching Nollywood films for the first time. That surely can't be a bad thing either!

Showed my teens this thread and how many people are offended. They started laughing and said "old people man" 😂😂 and have given me a few bombastic side eyes and criminal offensive side eyes when they see me!

He’s already accused her of trying to separate him from his friends . Tweens and teens can be incredibly forceful and manipulative in their quest to be on social media. I wouldn’t kick the OP for that.

My kid wouldn't be talking to anyone who used the N word as a racist slur.

My kid is black and I'd lose my shit.

Tbh, if the guy in question actually posted the image himself, then it's your reaction that was racist. You are actually advocating for a form of shunning of black people if you think that others shouldn't reshare their own funny posts that they put out there to be shared. You are completely othering this man because of his skin colour. It's kind of a case where your intention has gone to far to one extreme, it's gone all the way around and become the opposite.

This is the original and the best bombastic side eye meme. Side eye is universal. It is not constrained by race, or even by species.
