To speak to reception children like this..

Countrygirlxo · 16/07/2024 14:53

Would you expect a Reception teacher to say to your child "that sounds like a you problem."?
Regarding something they were bothered about, wouldn't say upset, something they had gone to the teacher about and that's the attitude of the class teacher.

Oh dear

I think you mean you were the TA! 🤦‍♀️

Hugely unprofessional to run the risk of the teacher recognising you both on this public forum.

The teacher shouldn’t have been so unprofessional to start with. Im a huge supporter of teachers in general but ones like from the op bring the whole profession down.

Bax765 · 17/07/2024 10:27

I definitely wouldn't expect a teacher to say this to a small child. Teachers should be helping to make school a place where children feel supported and encouraged to learn.

I hope you wouldn't teach a child that "that been said" is correct!

No, I wouldn't teach that.

However, like I actually said in the comment, nobody is perfect. I made a single spelling mistake on a social media forum. So shoot me.

I'll now proceed to mark your comment as you're so good at English:

it's (capital letter required) just occurred to me that maybe i'm (again, capital letter required for I'm) the one who's been wrong all my life!!

I assumed it was "that being said". (The full stop should go inside the speech mark.)

The full stop should not go inside the speech marks. It's not speech (where the full stop would go inside), the PP is quoting a phrase within a larger sentence.

So:

Eleanor said, "I saw your dog."

But:

I can't believe all this "fuss and nonsense".

how come you started a thread about leaving your job2/3 weeks before end of term due to “circumstances out of your control” but you desperately needed to find another job at short notice

whichfan · 28/07/2024 21:36

and fact this school gave you such a bad reference that new employee withdrew offer?

VirginiaGirl · 28/07/2024 21:40

No, I don’t think it’s kind, helpful or an appropriate way to speak to a child. At all.

As a matter of fact the employer actually offered me a job in September which I declined.
I didn't leave 2-3 weeks at the end of term, I was looking for a new job for September when my contract ran out.
It wasn't a bad reference, it was an untrue reference because this teacher who I had to put as a referee knew I reported her to my line manager for the way she spoke to the children! The school has now dealt with that situation

@whichfan I'd take each post on its own and respond if wish/have an answer.

Trying to dig out all of OP's posts and 'catch' them is just not going to work, as most people would change a few things here and there to be less identifiable in real life.

The question/ advice that has been asked in this OP would already have all the details you need to reply here.

H34th · 28/07/2024 22:09

I assumed it was "that being said". (The full stop should go inside the speech mark.)
@zingally

That's wrong.
It's hard not to say it because you tried to make a point of correcting someone else's punctuation.
(And because you said you were a teacher.)

countrysidelife2024 · 28/07/2024 22:19

I wouldn't think it was appropriate if a teacher said that to my 4 yr old no

I refused to work with someone with so little empathy and compassion towards 4 and 5 year olds. End of.

Not at all.

your posting history indicates you had to leave this job 3 weeks before end of term because of “events out of your control”

Your new job, due to start in september, withdrew its offer because you got such a poor reference from this school

🤷

whichfan · 29/07/2024 09:31

oh wow you got the shit reference one deleted 😆

but this chestnut still here

I had a job lined up for September and basically with 2-3 weeks before we break up, for reasons out of my control I need to find another job.

NowImNotDoingIt · 29/07/2024 09:31

"This sounds like a you problem" is a thing. Something kids say to each other and to staff in school too.

I have also jokingly said it back at times . I have great relationships with the children I work with and their parents.

JollyHelper · 29/07/2024 09:42

Sorry OP, this thread sounds like a you problem.

materialgworl · 29/07/2024 09:51

this post is absolutely a you problem

persistentyes · 29/07/2024 16:13
