Do you hate running and want to be mercilessly bullied into it? Cod's couch to 5k

If so I am your woman!
You might remember me from other successes as ' Potty training boot camp with Cod' and ' the Horned Hoofers". But now, in a Moment of Madness, I decided to do 5k, my reasoning being that all sorts if idiots can run, so so can I.
I finished it a week ahead ( GET ME) and now after not wanting to run, ever, and being unable to do 5 minutes, I can run for 35 without stopping

What is in it for you?
You will do couch to 5k in the 9 weeks and no slacking
I will bully you

Result
You will end up loving running as much as I do now. Its free, its quickly over (!) and its transportable.
If I can, you can.

What do you need?
Trainers
A sports bra
Music if that is your thing
The Couch to 5k app
Its even better if you have a smart watch ( can plot the incredible change to for eg your heart)

What I can't allow for
Lazy fuckers who don't STICK TO THE PROGRAMME
anyone with health issues - soz, am not a doctor, not interested in your wonky knee..

We start NOW

Oh and I got my timings wrong and ran for 90secs and walked for 60 secs and it was meant to be the other way round. Now I feel I need to continue with that this week and next as going to the proper times would be a step back? 🤷‍♀️

Exactly. You've done it now.
on about week seven? There are two easy runs and one harder one and I thought once I've done the hard one I might as well just carry on.

I may join in - but not until the week after next as we're away.

I don't have an apple watch, but I don't need one to tell me how unfit I am and how much it's going to hurt!

Looking forward to the bollockings, @iCod Grin

I don't see how it's hurting if you're in week two

It’s hurttttting!

iCod · 24/10/2026 18:32

Why can't you run when you're away?

OP posts:
BIWI · 24/10/2026 18:35

Because I'm with a small group of friends, and we're doing various stuff together. Would be antisocial to leave them to go for a run.

BIWI · 24/10/2026 18:35

Don't start with the bollockings yet! Grin

Take your trainers with you. It's only half an hour I'm sure you can manage.

Hills!!! How do I beat the hills??! Bloody awful things.

AzurePoster · 24/10/2026 22:02

Can I join once it stops raining?

@giraffeskiyou ran ONE HUNDRED MILES???

It was slow and some was walking up the hills but yes I did. I have even run a marathon in an extremely respectable time. I am however not troubling the start lines of ultramarathons at the moment. I can't decide whether it's a perimenopause thing or not but I can't get myself motivated at all to run.

Okay missed my session today so must get out tomorrow morning.
im determined to be running 5k at least twice a week by end of November (after saying that I really haven’t checked how long I’ve got left -I’m almost finished week 6)

TheDevilWears · Yesterday 05:12

Which app do you use? There are loads 🤦🏼‍♀️

I want to be bullied 🙋

I have always wanted to run but never managed it. I feel dizzy and sick when I run.

But, I am recovering from severe depression, just left DH of 20 years and obese. No better time to start.

Obstacles I need to overcome: I'm obese, I have plantar fasciitis but its been OK recently, I live surrounded by hills and no pathways which I think will be tough on my feet.

Positives: I have always wanted to be able to run. I'd love to be able to take myself on a solo holiday and do a 5k at 7am alongside the beach. I like being out in the rain. I've been waking early so could fit a run into my morning.

I could buy a treadmill to overcome the obstacles of the uneven hill-y roads..

Please accept me to the thread and bully me into completing C25K.

I hate to rain on your parade but women of a certain age, and by that I mean anyone over 30, need to be kind to their knees.

You don't want to be thundering about on hard surfaces when oestrogen is on the decline.

Swim, walk, row or strength training yes. Joint bashing? Nope. You'll thank me in 5yrs when you aren't on the waiting list for knee replacements.

I thought it was now established that running does not destroy knees?

I strength train to help my running - and do run off-road when I can as I figure changes of surface, variety of movement and landing has got to be helpful.

I am well over my 30s, by a long shot.

Dh, while I appreciate is not a woman, is in his 60s and runs ultramarathons….think 500 mile distance marathons on rough ground with loads of ascent and descent.

He runs two marathons a week for training and his knees are fine. But he probably spends as much time stretching and doing bodyweight exercises as he does running to prevent injury and build joint strength.

I’m in! All my family have slowly become runners and I have rebelled against it but my time has come I feel with Cod’s couch to 5k. 🫡
