So, so close....

Owl Fisher? Whose articles for the Guardian are an incoherent mess and who thinks the problem with trans women in women’s sport won’t be an issue in the future if we hormone-treat kids early enough? Yeah, no thanks BBC.

NB - Owl does not even claim to be a woman

Interesting. I wonder who pulled this together.

I scrolled down: doctors, sportswomen, poet, Owl (but of course!)... then saw Bella Thorne -actress/director. Ah, I've never heard of her, let's see who she is?

"This summer, 22-year-old actress and director Bella Thorne released her own topless photos after a hacker threatened to leak them, saying, “It's my decision now, you don't get to take another thing from me.”

Bella, who has just directed her first porn film, says the abuse of women online can only change if more female content creators are involved in projects that celebrate sexuality."

Terrific. Let's deal with online abuse of women by producing porn. The old "porn is empowering women" trope. Hmm

Nisha Ayub is also in the list - a trans woman who was briefly jailed for being trans in Malaysia, a country with an appalling track record for treating women and where FGM is rife

What, no Buncey?

No BAFTA for Owl's award-winning video where Owl (or their partner?) is educating their 1950s style female neighbour on being a phobe?
The acting could rival Sir Larry Olivier, surely?

Owl is non-binary! why is she on the list! They have misgendered her!! literal violence, somebody send a SWAT Team to Broadcasting house now.

They have misgendered them @zanahoria. Tsk!

How empowering for young women to see that the BBC can't scrape together a list of 100 impressive women Hmm

These lists mean nothing as they always have male bodies people who say they are ‘female’, and female bodied people who say they aren’t.

It’s not about sex - it’s about women dragging themselves to the top of their trees, pushing through sexism and misogyny in education, health and work.

It’s not about a boy born, socialised and educated - starts his career, does rather well then says ‘I’m a woman 3 days a week’ then wins women in business awards.

It’s not about the dress, hair and makeup that makes you succeed. It’s taken, drive and commitment.

I can’t see the photos. Looking at the list - did a room of blokes just think ‘let’s name 100 women we have heard of’?.

Owl Fisher is non binary. They have been publicly misgendered. That is a hate crime and no doubt they will be complaining to the police about it.

Sad that they couldn't find 100 inspiring women out of the whole world.

Which sex is non binary them? And does it get you out of having horrible periods? Asking for a friend.

" They have misgendered them @zanahoria. Tsk"

damn, never going to win this game.

its almost like Owl can pick and choose when Owl wants to be a woman.

Yet Owl's inclusion is not the worst offence on that list, check this out

"trans woman Nisha Ayub was sentenced to three months in a male prison under a provision of Sharia law which prohibits "a male person wearing women's attire or posing as a woman in a public space.”

In a list celebrating women's achievements, the BBC are arguing for the right of male persons to have access to women's prisons.

I have no words so will just repeat that as I can hardly believe what I am writing

In a list celebrating women's achievements, the BBC are arguing for the right of male persons to have access to women's prisons

Somebody at the BBC needs to answer for that one.

It annoys me that my first thought when I saw the headline wasn't "I wonder which inspiring women are on this list" but "how many of them are men?"

Maybe we should have a MN list of 100 inspiring women who are actually inspiring. I wonder how much crossover there would be with the BBC's list...
