I've had a look at the Transgender Toolkit produced by Leicester City Council and Leicestershire Council with Gendered Intelligence.
Twitter thread here twitter.com/2010Equality/status/1117362185221677056?s=19
The issues I can see are:
- Encouraging schools to self diagnose children as trans
- Alienating children from their parents if parents not "supportive" of transition
- Undermining safeguarding
- Underexploring reasons why children with SEND might self diagnose as trans
- dismissing as transphobic the possibility that young GNC kids might grow up gay rather than transsexual
- Misrepresenting the Equality Act
- Not considering the rights and privacy of other children
This is the guide that is being reviewed by Oxfordshire and Warwickshire Councils.
Other councils referenced as contributing to it are Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council, Birmingham City Council, Derbyshire County Council, Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council, Kent County Council, Lincolnshire County Council, Nottinghamshire County Council, Sheffield City Council.
If you live in one of these would you write to your Council head of children's services?
Transgender Trend has done a really good resource twitter.com/Transgendertrd/status/1116994033459650560?s=19
