There was a big article in the i newspaper today talking about the big debate for schools is about gender and unisex toilets. From the article it seems very slanted towards lets be inclusive of trans.

Cant find the article online accept via press reader (which is hard to use) but this is the link www.pressreader.com/uk/i-newspaper/20190411/281517932502469

And the kit link is imascientist.org.uk/2019/01/new-debate-kit-unisex-toilets/

Sorry if this has already been discussed but wondered if anyone knew about this and whether this, its just science approach, is actually helpful or even acknowledges criticism of gender identity and the difference between sex and gender.

These parents aren't too happy about the plans for their school:

www.theargus.co.uk/news/17562858.parents-angry-at-primary-schools-plans-for-gender-neutral-toilets/

The proposals, which are “not set in stone”, would mean the current boys’ toilets being turned into a “learning environment”. The girls’ toilets, which are along the corridor, will become “gender neutral” facilities.

In these, boys would use the cubicles on the right hand side of the room and girls would use the cubicles on the left. There would be a shared entrance area and the children would wash their hands in the same space

Sorry - dont seem to have explained myself well enough.

This isn't about schools implementing policies, but the fact that an organisation is offering a debate toolkit aimed at pupils which implies because it is from the RI and based on science will help them understand the issue about "gender".

But the article implies the end conclusion is that pupils will want to be trans inclusive after being "educated" by the kit. No mention of gender vs. sex, or the basis for single sex provision.

I cant download the kit as it free to download for schools.

So the question is (and it has been available since late 2017) is this another of those male we are pure scientists (dont need to worry about what women are saying they experience) is fueling some of the "there is no difference between sex and gender" that more and more young people are being exposed to.

Confused

This seems weird to me. Of all the issues around interesting kids in science how have they decided on toilets which is a social not science question anyway.
