Solicitors forced to compensate transwoman for 'misnaming'

The detail is a bit thin, but it seems that

  1. the solicitors asked the TW what form of address/name they should use.
  2. TW failed to respond to this
  3. solicitors then wrote to TW using birth (presumably legal) name
  4. Ombudsman (ombudstranswoman, shurely: ed) ordered solicitors to pay compensation for hurty feelings.

The complainant has praised the Ombudsman for their decision: "Thank you so very much for your understanding around trans issues and the journey that I am on. I wish more people were like you," she said.

The details of the ruling came from within the Ombudsman from a whistleblower - it looks like this is being used as some sort of training example?

Well this is going to be a nice little earner.

LangCleg · 25/03/2019 13:00

Very interesting that it came from a whistleblower.

How can you misname some one who doesn't tell you their name ?

RepealTheGRA · 25/03/2019 13:06

Very interesting that it came from a whistleblower.

We need more whistle blowers.

Can the decision of the ombudsman be appealed against?

btw the Ombudswoman is a lesbian who has spent decades specifically in the LGB industry

I can't find any word on her 'T' position, however.
