Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services are consulting and are particularly interested in answers to these questions:

Are there any significant new or emerging problems in or for policing which HMICFRS should take into account in its effectiveness, efficiency and legitimacy inspections?

Do the proposed thematic inspections of counter-terrorism, older people in the criminal justice system, cyber-crime, child protection and crime data integrity cover areas that are of most concern to you at the moment?

How else could HMICFRS adapt the way in which it acquires information, to take account of current circumstances and risks to public safety?

I am thinking many of us here may have views on crime data integrity that could be helpful to them at the moment.

Worth filling it in.

I know it's a boring one but it's an opportunity to make views known.

Exactly. I'm sure hmicfrs love to check in with all of our opinions here on Mumsnet every now and then Grin but it'll guarantee they hear what we have to say if we use their own platform to voice our concerns. Thanks Lang

I'm bumping this because I just got round to emailing my answers to the short consultation above and really want to encourage more of us to do the same. I focused on the inaccurate reporting of violent crimes committed by males choosing to identify as trans women against women, as female on female crimes. Detailing all the ridiculous and devastating consequences of this. And also on the illegitimacy of arresting and cautioning women for simply stating biological facts when trying to raise awareness of the importance of protecting our women and children only safe spaces. We spend a lot of time talking to each other about how wrong this is. Now we have a chance to go and tell it to the source and actually have our voices heard! I'm not optimistic that it will change much but I'm going to at least be able to know I did my best to make some difference. Don't worry, I remembered to use my spell check! Grin

Are Fair Play or any other group putting up any key bullet points or guidance as they've so brilliantly done in other consultations?

I think HMI will be very interested in hearing about the concerns around the recording of suspects/detainees by gender - and the impact on the integrity of crime data - so thumbs up @barelo

But this isn't just about gender identity: this is an opportunity to raise concerns about the 2.5 murders per week, the 1038 rapes recorded each week and the 20,500 reports of domestic violence reported to the police each week in England and Wales
(Office of National Statistics 2017 - I don't have the stats for Scotland and NI)

I would hope to see not only input from FPFW, WPUK etc but also the organisations dealing with the fall-out of violence against women.

For instance, I would like to see HMI review Forces' rape cases that "failed to meet the evidential test'.

That phrase sounds so factual, clear-cut and final - but, as we know from posters here on MN and in our own lives, the decisions were catastrophic. They ought to be scrutinised at the highest levels more closely - including interviewing/surveying the women let down badly by investigators.

Questions 2 is suited to raising concerns about specific problems of poor performance when it comes to violence against women.

Question 3 is suited to raising suggestions about the need to consult with women's organisations about the untold stories behind such things as 'failed to meet the evidential test'.
