1st March - Time for a new thread

We can now forget/capitalise on the first two difficult months. The lighter mornings are upon us, soon the sun will be shining more and more and it will become warmer. Time to start thinking about the spring wardrobe...

Come on ladies, lets go for it, Summer will be here before we know it, and we want to enjoy it don't we?

I have copied the stats from the last weigh in, I have put the Jan start weight first, and the last weight that was posted, so update as necessary I have taken off a couple of people I haven't seen in a while, apologies if you are still checking, please say hello and add yourself to the stats again, as well as anyone else who would like to join.

Hey there Lisa. Thanks for kick starting this!

I've been missing from this thread for a while. Have slightly fallen off the bandwagon due to a bad back, which cocked up my exercise and in turn meant I was sitting about eating too much . I have gained 1 lb only, though (thankfully) so am 12 st 8 lbs and back on the wagon from today, as back is much better .

My goal is to lose a stone by May - so got 8 weeks to achieve this (or as near as possible!).

Let's do it!

Morning MrsMattie

So glad your back is feeling better and I am mightily impressed you have only gained 1 lb, that is brilliant in my book

I reckon you should be able to lose a stone in that time if you are really good

My next goal is to be at least 10st 10 by the 11th April as I have a wedding to go to. That works out to a pound a week, should certainly be doable if I keep up my exercise.

I have done a total of 3hrs 10 mins on the XT this week and I am already spurred on to do more this week. My hubby did me a spreadsheet to print out that is on the fridge. It has each day printed out on it till June, with 10 min boxes up to 2hrs for each day. Every 10 mins exercise I do I put a x in the box so I can see at a glance how I am doing. I must say its making me do it as the crosses are spurring me on. If anyone fancies giving it a go I can get him to amend it to the 1st March start date and I can email you the link so you can print it out

That's brilliant!@Lisa. You should be feeling proud of yourself! And your DH sounds like a sweetie .

A wedding to go to is my main motivator at the moment. Nothing like having to shop for a dress to bring your weight into sharp focus, eh?

Can I come and join you all.
Started the couch to 5km (join us here) in January in hope to get fitter. I am now so much fitter and feel so much better in myself for having a go with the running. My problem is now the extra weigh needs to go for me to really progess. Plus the running (and lots of walking) really has made me think much more about myself, and my lifestyle.Got the courage up to weigh myself and was very shocked at how much it was.
I start a weekly weigh 3weeks ago and and very pleased to say I've lost 3lbs so far. Just by cut down portion size no snacks except fruit or veg, plus uping the exercise.
I have found though the couch25km thread that it's really to great to have the support of the mumsnet mums.Been thinking about joining all for the last week, since I have a long way to go (7+ stone to lose) felt the support could really help me.

Good idea to start a new thread, Lisa. Love the 'Spring into Summer' title, sounds so positive!

I left a long message this morning on the old thread just before the new one was started, so if anyone wants to take a look.....

I must update my weight, as I've lost 3.5 lbs this last week!!!!!

Have amended my weight.. am the same as I was in Jan

DH has decided that he wants to get healthy as well as lose some weight so we are int he process of devising a plan, joining our local leisure centre so he can go to the gym and I can go swimming. Also, he has asked me to make a meal plan with healthy meals on it for us all as long as he can go to his mums and eat curry and rice twice a week.

We went running yesterday... I was very pleased that I was better than I thought and he gave up before me .. we then went for a long scenic walk and were out for 2 hours.

Already making me more positive knowing that to a greta degree we are working as a family to get healthier.

Lisa - that spreadsheet sounds like a great idea... might create one myself... 10 min blocks are much more acheivable.

Polly and I are going walking with pushchairs tomorrow so all in all feeling good.

I am aiming for a 1lb a week loss again. Am hoping to be able to wear a bikini for holiday in August instead of a swim suit.

HAve been fairly good on the food front, had a MN post natal meet up on Sat and went to Nandos, was very good and had a chicken breast and rataouille instead of chips. Did order takeaway in the evening but it was horrible so didnt really eat it.

Have planend for today so should be within points range.

125g fat free yog
1 banana
100g peaches in juice

Carrots
Ceareal bar and coffee

Salmon and tomato bagel for lunch

Tuna steak, salad and veggies for dinner

Am going to start my 30 min walks at lunchtime again as the weather is nicer and eat my lunch outside.

Everyone is doing soo well and you have all lost except me which means clearly i have just been slack so am on a mission and now i have family support will make it much easier.

Thinking of you, Banana. Counting, great to hear about the new drive! Your company sounds brilliant. It's typical about the guys getting competitive! But it could be fun to beat them!

Countess, hi there on the new thread!

You've done so well Undervalued. Brilliantly! You must be feeling great. Good suggestion from Tessieb with Debs advisor! You could also try the style and beauty on mumsnet... i've seen a couple of makeover stylee threads, which could be fun!

Thanks for starting the new thread Lisa. And such an inspiring first post! Your really motivated and it's great to read about. New wardrobe from Dh is inspiring!!! How exciting! Keeping your eye out for anything in particular?

3.5 is fantastic Tessieb! Pmk has drifted away a little, and just keeping the rules in mind, but haven't had a chance to listen recently. So i'll try and get a listen in today at some point.

Hey MrsMattie, great that you're back and glad the back's better. Seems to be the way, after kids. I'm due my first back physio on Thursday - so hopefully some relief soon.

Howdy Lexcat! Had a look over at the couch25 thread and it looks fab! Well done on the loss already!

Mixedmama, i'll say you're on a mission now!!! Fraid you won't find ME running yet! It's brilliant that you're doing this as a family. Dh sounds brilliant, and it's sweet that he's going to his mum's for curry and rice!

I pointed out to dh that i've almost lost a stone since jan 1st, and i did the old ... 'see told you i was serious this time...' and he replied jokingly that he didn't believe me, because he knew it would motivate me further... his humour is warped at the best of times...

I got all my preprg clothes down from the loft last night and found that half of them fitted. Hooray! I've got a waist again! So i've got to find wardrobe space now. I feel a cull coming on!

Thankyou Tessieb and Pollygarter for the advice. I will try in a couple of weeks as I want to be a size 12 really.
I do feel great and have gained a lot of confidence back -quite important in my job!! Teens can be very quick to notice negatives and are rather vocal in their opinions.
I look forward to being the same weight as you lot - I guess it's all relative
Good luck to you all this week x

Everyone's missing off my 3.5 lb loss when they're cutting and pasting!

Glad you all sound so positive. We can do it!!!

I've just bought 'My fitness coach' for the Wii. It looks really good, but not had chance to use it yet. Apparently, you get a different workout every time. I find I get bored with fitness DVDs after so many times, so hopefully this should be much more interesting to do. I'll keep you updated.

Polly, so glad you're getting into more of your pre-pregnancy clothes. It must be such a boost. Will you get rid of all your larger clothes straight away so you can't grow back into them?!!!

Report
LisaLessLumpy · 02/03/2009 20:42

WOW Polly well done, back in your 10's [clap] I hope I get back in mine soon

Undervalued, you have done amazingly well in two months, you will be a size 12 before you know it

I did Davina's new dvd this morning, I did the aerobic section and the abs section... (20 mins each) blimey, I couldn't keep up with it all, its quite tough, so my goal is to do all the sections this week, which leaves, pump, boxercise and the legs. I also did 20 mins on the XT.

I will be 10 stone by August

Hello all, can I join you?

(Mixedmama sent me over from our PN thread)

I can't remember off-hand what i was at the beginning of Jan (will look on the Wii graph later) but I am now 9,5.
I was 11,5 last July when we got the Wii Fit.

I am aiming for 8,7 which is my wedding/pre-pg weight but have been stuck on 9,5 for a bit now. Been slacking as BMI is healthy and some pre-pg clothes fit.

Need a push to get me going again.

Not an exerciser really so it's mostly down to food/snacks/wine....
Saying that I walked to pre-school, sing & sign, home, then pre-school and home again today

Hi everyone, and welcome to justkeepswimming. 9st 5 - I wish I was there too. One day.....

Undervalued - brilliant, glad you're out of the obese category now. Think it's time for you to treat yourself to a gorgeous new outfit to show off your much slimmer figure!

Lisa, the Davina DVD is quite tough isn't it? Just think of all the calories it uses up though.

I'm loving the Wii fitness coach. I did my profile today and Maya (the coach!) told me I was a little overweight - lol!!! I've chosen to focus on weightloss - you can set your focus to different things, eg. cardio fitness, strength, flexibility and change it whenever you want. I've just done a 15 minute session and enjoyed it - only did 15 mins as I have already done a 75 min yoga class this morning. It was very good, with a warm-up, aerobic moves, then about 5 mins toning exercises and a cool down. After each section I had to input whether I found it easy, if it made my heart race, or if I couldn't keep up. That data is stored and used to plan the next session. It's fantastic! Much better than an exercise DVD I think as it is so varied.

Hope you're all having a good week.
