Weaning

OK, so food is for fun and all that, but...

Now I'm back at work and DD is with CM and I'm desperately expressing all I can and suddenly the advice I'm getting seems to be 'chill, she'll be fine if she's on solids, you can feed her when you get home.' Which is great, and I'm hugely grateful for the advice and reassurance, but it requires a complete attitudinal U-turn. As for the solids, she eats and eats and eats and loves it. So is it just a case of adapting to circumstances, or should I be concerned that on days when I'm working food is in fact for calories and nutrition?

it all depends what age your lo is really.

She's 8mths, and enormous, weighs more than 12kg. I mean, I'm sure she's fine, just I'd taken the 'up till one food's just for fun' mantra at face value so was kind of surprised at how immediately she took to solids and how much her appetite has grown. And now of course with work, I can't sustain expressing enough milk for it to be her main source of food, I'm sending her to the CM with 8oz EBM a day (she usually does 8.30-4.30), I started out sending her with 12oz (3 x 4oz) but I couldn't express that much during a working day and she wasn't drinking the third bottle anyway.

mine is 9mths and very similar - i can;t express much at work so she's getting a few ounces of formula during the day, but not loads, and so I'm a lot more concerned now about what she's eating iyswim

and when i say concerned i mean i am still floundering!!

have come on here to find some ideas that go beyond fruit and toast...
