London hotels with kids

We're planning to spend a few days in london over the summer - Dcs are 15 and 12. We know london well but not hotels as we usually do a day trip or stay with friends.
Ideally we'd like to be fairly central (southbank area would be perfect) a pool would be great but not essential, breakfast included, not too business-like with a bit of cool factor for the kids!
We've got a bit of a budget - hoping to do 2 nights for around £500 tops.
There are hundreds to choose from on the booking sites but I'm getting overwhelmed so would love some recommendations.

We went in 2019 and stayed in Premier Inn Earls court. Great location, central, tube station round the corner.

It was very reasonable then for 2 rooms for 3 nights at around £400. I just looked for next summer and its nearly £900 for the same😡

Park Plaza Westminster Bridge

Personally, I don't think you can beat a good Premier Inn or Holiday Inn Express. You're not going to get a pool but you know what you're getting. They're clean and efficiently run. Beds are superbly comfortable.
Family friendly -yes
Cool- no
But realistically, how much time in 2 days are you going to be in the hotel?

Sea containers house is very cool, but doesn’t have a pool. Amazing location though
The hoxton now has a Southwark hotel - again, won’t have a pool

Also look at the Club Quarters hotels. Great locations and good value

We got a great deal at the Park Plaza near Westminster bridge in October. We booked two doubles and ended up with interconnecting suites! Mostly families staying and we had an easy walk to
The Tower, Soho, Bloomsbury museums. A great location.

For ‘wow’ factor and pool grange St. Paul’s is lovely but pricey.

Echoe the above premier inn a winner.

Also highly recommend Citizen M - it’s good value and really quirky

Got to love MN. First recommendation to the OP’s brief to be the Premier Inn in Earl’s Court. Grin

Isn't there a boat you can stay on.... Or have a dreamt that... That'd be cool

BIWI · 15/07/2021 17:42

The Park Plaza, Westminster Bridge, has a pool and also looks like it would cater well for a family.

It must be good as that's where all the Wimbledon tennis players were accommodated!

Sorry - my link isn't showing for some reason!

here it is

Thanks for all the suggestions - we've gone for the Park Plaza Westminster bridge - love the location and it's free cancellation until the day before which given the way things are at the moment seems to be a good idea.

@mamaduckbone did you stay here last year and did you like it please? Did you need to book two rooms for the ages of your kids? My children are 16 and 11 so unsure about what to book. Thanks
