Yes, we are on episode 3 this week. It's pretty good, I think.

Have I missed much?

Have to say I am finding it very slow and there doesn't seem to be much actually happening. I will keep watching however I think it should have been wrapped up at series 2.

I'm not quite following all the threads. Well, either that or I AM and I'm looking for more than seems to be actually going on!

I'm not sure why Mia is trying to integrate and why Laura seems to be in on her plan.

I don't know where the synth and child living in synth-free town fit in, or her growing friendship with Joe.

The most interesting thing might be how Leo learns to be human.

And I do like a bit of Mark Bonnar!

I loved the first series but I find it almost unwatchable this time around. Boring, rather predictable - I think I agree with you DarlingNikita - I'm sure there should be more but I just don't think it's there!

Looks like they should have quit while they were ahead

Oh I don't find it boring or predictable or slow at all! I can't wait to see the next episodes

Surely Karen and Sam won't be able to in waltringham long. They will soon cotton on that he doesn't seem to be growing and will have to move on.

@DarlingNikita

"I'm not sure why Mia is trying to integrate and why Laura seems to be in on her plan." Mia wants to show that the human have nothing to fear from the green eyed synths. Which is a pile of rubbish because they do have something to fear from some of the scary ones!

"I don't know where the synth and child living in synth-free town fit in, or her growing friendship with Joe." I think it is a love interest for Joe, he is going to end up having a fling with her, and he will feel responsible for the child (maybe because he is missing his own kids).

*Other opinions are available!

I find Leo and Mattie the most bring thing about the whole programme!

I'm quite interested in Joe actually. I would also be living in the town he is living in as the synths creep me out!

Oh I've just though of an obvious plot twist but will keep it under my hat, if it happens I will just say "I saw that one coming!"

Italian, yes, I get that about the Mia and the Joe storylines. I suppose what I meant is I don't really know where they're going as longer-term plotlines, or think they're that interesting.

Actually, having said that, I wonder about the Joe one – I do agree that they might have a fling, which could kick off a few interesting storylines. I find Joe dull though and his acting poor, so I'd prefer it if he wasn't in it very much!

Where does Karen get her money from (to pay rent etc) if she just looks after Sam?

This series isn't as engaging - hope it perks up. I think the parallels/message about migrants etc is too broad brushstroke. The writers have gone too "large" with day zero and for me it worked better when it was more home based and intimate.

And where did Mia get her money from to rent that flat.

I think Laura would have to pay as she would have had to sign the lease.

Why is Karen no longer a police officer?

"I don't really know where they're going as longer-term plotlines, or think they're that interesting" I think the Mia one is dull, but Joe is rather nice, me thinks, and the synths in a town with no synths is kind of clever.

I think Niska is interesting but too intense.

Does anyone else think letting the humans in, and telling them they are working on face recognition for emotion and solar batteries, is the worst idea ever!!!

Yes. Dumb move!

I thought episode 4 was much improved. I didn't see the Karen thing coming. Does anyone know what Mattie did with the computer?

DarlingNikita · 12/06/2018 11:43

The Karen and Joe story was done and dusted very quickly, as was Ed coming back. They seem to be thinking of ideas and throwing them all at the series, but not really getting into them properly.

What is the scientist's game? Is he manipulating Laura somehow and if so, what for? Or is he just angry with himself for getting close to someone who supports synths when he has a bad history with them?
And isn't he quite hot – hotter than in Shetland? Or is that just me? Grin

Yeah but isn't it opening up for Joe to take up the role of carer for Sam the little boy

Report
DarlingNikita · 12/06/2018 16:08

Yes, I suppose so. Hadn't thought of that! How will it go though –surely people will cotton on that the kid isn't getting any older (even assuming that they'll just forget that they spotted the blue blood). Will Joe have to leave the synth-free town? Try to get back with Laura? How will that go down with the scientist (assuming he's not now out of the picture)?

@Crinkle77 "Does anyone know what Mattie did with the computer?" When?

What did she do to help the boy in the USA, you mean? I don't know but I want to know.

I think the silver fox is playing Laura and Mia and Niska are onto a hiding to nothing!

The human would be made to take the green eyes back into society!
