I am interested in what my contemporaries are wearing to work and at home. Just turned 45 and feel I need a bit of a wardrobe overhaul..

I live in jeans/cords and sweatshirts/shirts at the weekend running around after a 6 and 8 year old and smart casual dresses for work. I feel like I need a confidence boost... tell me about your wardrobes please!

Home - mid blue jeans, superga metallic trainers & loads of different knitwear... I have a jumper obsession.Smile

Work - ankle grazer trousers & knitwear with either statement jewellery or collars, with block heel mid heels.

That’s it, I tend not to deviate... Grin

I’m 43. Today I am wearing a navy maxi skirt from MeandEm, a bright pink v neck jumper from Boden, and hiking boots.

Normally at this time of year I wear short A-line or flippy skirts, tights, chunky boots and a little fitted jumper. Sometimes wide legged trousers instead of the skirt. I always wear bright colours on my top half at least, usually turquoise, bright blue, bright pink, sometimes green or yellow, because bright colours suit me.

I'm 46, but close enough Grin

H&M skinny jeans in black or navy, cotton t-shirts (both long-sleeve and short, various necklines and colours/stripes), black or grey ankle boots or trainers of various types, padded coats in winter (I have long black and shorter red and goldy/beige ones), Coach bag, lots of scarves. In summer I wear dresses or jeans and t-shirts typically with good quality, understated jewellery. Otherwise, I'm often found in running/workout gear.

44.

At home, hush harems usually, t shirts, trainers. Jeans. For work/dinner ankle grazers, jeans, blazers, that sort of thing. Maybe a dress if I’m feeling like it.

Over 50 and I still love my jeans!

I could do with an overhaul too.

My work wardrobe is OK, mostly dresses with opaque tights and either loafers/brogues or boots, depending on the weather.

Leisure is harder. Mostly jeans and nice trainers, and varying combinations of knitwear. I feel like I need a boost.

Of duty: skinny jeans with a shirt. Ankle boots (DMs or acne pistols) or Adidas trainers

At work: jersey dress with tights and a jacket, brogues or ankle boots

Fave brands: mint velvet, hush, whistles, armed angels, all saints

46.

I don't have the right body shape for trousers - long-torsoed hourglass with short, dumpy legs - so rarely wear them. I do have one pair I like, which are wide-legged, high-waisted grey wool trousers in a prince of Wales type check. They look good with a fine knit roll neck.

Today I'm wearing a Jersey pencil skirt from Baukjen with a denim shirt and a navy, chunky cotton sweater (from a menswear shop!). This is quite a typical casual outfit for me - straight skirt, chunky sweater.

I also wear a lot of knitted or ponte dresses with opaque tights and boots. A cardigan for casual days, or a blazer for meetings etc.

I wear scrubs at work. So no help with workwear, I'm afraid.

Primark and charity shop clothing here.
Jeans that’s are comfy, cords, tracky bottoms.
T shirts, long sleeve t shirts, jumpers or shirt.
Boots, trainers.

I do not do smart, I do not possess trendy or smart clothes. I am envious of folk who look lovely all of the time.

I recently bought myself a really really lovely jumper from TK MAX. It was £18 much much more than I would ever spend on one item for myself. It’s lovely .
To my fury and annoyance I am saving it “for best”.
I feel unable to wear it because it is too nice for me.

I'm close to this age and find that I have to dress quite smartly because jeans are now so uncomfy. I've always had a small waist and big thighs but in the last few years my tummy is so big. Jeans look and feel awful. Also short so was already a challenge to find a suitable pair.
So I wear lots of skirts and dresses that are fitted but not too tight. I have a lovely new wool coat and lots of nice jewellery/accessories.
Would be nice to find so.ething more casual but fear I need to lose weight even though I'm only a size 10, just very lumpy!

Harem pants suit me as long as forgiving fabric on the thighs.

  1. I wear largely similar things at work and home — I’m a ‘smallish capsule wardrobe’ person — wide-legged trousers/ asymmetric skirts, white shirts, slouchy oversized knitwear, biker boots.

Also some Hush (harems and girlfriend chinos)

H&M or Dotty P skinnies

But I feel I need a bit of a wardrobe update and new ideas!

Love the leather leggings look but the fake ones look wroooong on me, and the leather ones are £££

I'm 40 and live in jeans. I wear dresses and skirts for lunch or evenings out but I don't really go for dresses for casual wear. I wear a uniform for work anyway so days off are usually spent walking the dog, running around doing jobs, exercising or meeting friends for coffee and so jeans suit my lifestyle. I have loads of different styles though - skinny, slim, tapered leg, Mom jeans.
Doc Martens or trainers are my usual footwear and a biker jacket or a wool coat are my main outerwear although I do spend most of winter in my long warm puffa coat.
My favourite shops are AllSaints, Hush, Oliver Bonas, topshop and Levi's are my favourite jeans.

Work - Jersey dresses, opaques, cardis, chelsea boots.
Home - dark leggings, knitwear, hoodies, timberland style (but primark) boots.

I'm so boring yet beyond caring.

Slouchy jeans or skinny jeans.

I'm 41. During the colder months I mostly wear jeans and jumpers. The jumpers are mostly cashmere, and usually in varying shades of green or blue, with occasional grey, cream and red. The jeans are usually skinny, though I'm experimenting at the moment with wide leg and straight leg ones.

In spring and autumn I swap the jumpers for t-shirts and silky tops, with a blazer or kimono-style jacket over the top. Summer is dresses, in a huge variety or colours and styles.

I accessorise with jewellery - especially earrings - and scarves. I rarely buy new, most of my clothes are from charity shops, but when I do I buy quality items in the sale, rather than fast fashion, and where possible I prefer natural fabrics.

My work-wear is a bit of an outlier - I'm an actor, so I'm either rehearsing in neutral workout gear, or I'm in costume. Smile

I'm loving this thread, it's so interesting!

I'm 41 and work out of home, work from home 3 half days, have primary aged kids and am quite active.
So far this week I've worn:
Sunday: bouldering gear. No further info needed. Ain't no one need emulate my middle aged woman climbing look 😳
Monday: red velvet knee length skirt. Black cashmere crew neck ( both Boden). Ankle boots.
Tuesday: patterned ankle grazers, black cashmere crew neck (Boden), black brogues
Wednesday: black jersey dress (Boden), mustard yellow tights. Can't remember the shoes, but they were probably unwise.
Thursday: bright stripey please midi skirt ( Sainsbury's), black cashmere crew neck (Boden) .
Friday: ancient Joules blue sweatshirt dress, silver brogues
Today: black skinny jeans, slouchy red Jigsaw sweater, trainers.

I also wore my patterned halter neck swimsuit 3 days abs my running gear 3 days. They are both astonishing uncool outfits.

I wore either a purple boiled wool Boden coat or my padded blue bum covering Joukes mum coat, weather depending.

I wear much the same as I always have. Difference is I can now afford better quality, and I like more colourful clothes, they suit me now.

I wear TOAST dresses ( mainly denim ones for work with tights and boots with a long sleeved stripy top underneath) wide leg jeans and jumpers with boots or Stan smiths / superga trainers. I have some mom style jeans too which I like wearing.

I can't wait for warmer weather though as I don't really enjoy wearing boots and am already craving my flip flops or sandals.

I’m 48. For work I wear ankle grazers with a blouse or a thin sweater (uniqlo is good for these), or a patterned midi skirt and plain sweater or top

At home jeans. Grey or blue with bright trainers, I like Saucony, and jumpers.
