Please tell me your night time face cleansing routines?

Also, how do you do wash your face at the sink without getting water everywhere?

I use a flannel!

I use either Beauty Pie Japanfusion, Emma Hardie balm or Superfacialist vitamin C oil to remove SPF any make up. I Do use a separate eye make up remover due to wearing waterproof mascara.

Then I do a second cleanse with either Superfacialist salicylic acid wash, or a REN cleanser - either the clay or rose one.

I then use eye cream and Differin. Then either a moisturiser, squalane oil or Clarins lotus oil. Some nights I’ll use Paula’s choice BHA instead of the differin.

I use aldi's hot cloth cleansing cream on a facial brush (and then muslin) to get the initial make up off. Then I use micellar water (the Primark one smells lovely and works a treat), tone. Serum again Aldi goes on, sometimes with a NipFab dragon's blood shot mixed in. Then I use e45 all over. Sometimes I use eye cream if they are puffy.

At least once per week I use a face mask and in the morning either use a face scrub or wash before micellar water and toner.

I double cleanse and use a flannel or a muslin.

I chop and change but use Clarins, Eve Lom and Dermalogica at the moment.

I developed rosacea in my 50s so had to cut everything out and ended up just using Liz Earle cleanse and polish.
My skin is now clear, apart from some redness at times which can easily be covered with a decent foundation. However, I am very minimal in my routine and actually only cleanse my face in the morning in the shower! I use a Superdrug cleansing balm and muslin, then Lidl serum to moisturise. People comment on how nice my skin is, I never get spots, have few wrinkles and truly believe this whole skin care routine using multitudes of products is a con brought about by canny advertising.

I change products a lot as I like to try new things but at the moment I use baby wipes to take off the surface make up. Then I take a clean wipe and splash it with Lancome Bi Facil to remove every trace of eye make up, especially mascara.

Then I wash my face with Skinceuticsls blemish and age cleanser. Pat dry.

Then I use Lancome tonique confort or Pixi retinol as a toner and apply liberally to soak my skin.

Then a layer of Vichy mineral 89 serum which sinks in fast.

After that’s dried I make up a potion of two drops of Pixi rose oil, Dr Jackson’s night moisturiser 02 and one or two drops of tanning oil, the one from M&S is what I’m using at the moment.

When all that has sunk in I put a smear of Vaseline on my eyelashes.

Every few days I do an exfoliant massage before washing my face, with either Dermalogica microfoliant powder which I won’t buy again as the No 7 microdermabrasion is just as good and I have started using that.

Next week I could be using different products but I am really loving Pixi and Dr Jackson and I always use vaseline on nails and eyelashes as it’s so brilliant.

I use NeoStrata cleanser for acne prone skin, followed by simple toner and then a serum from The Ordinary. I put some Kiehls moisturiser for oily skin on at night but alternate my moisturiser with the skin perfecting lotion from Murad. Also have the Kiehls deep prove masque twice a week. All my products are for oily skin and seem to be doing the trick so far as my skin is completely clear for the first time in my life

I take off eye makeup
wash face, neck, chest and hands (what I do to my face I do to my hands, jeez what a difference its made!) twice with a flannel and black mud soap
glycolic acid toner (The Inkey List) and wait 30 mins/sometimes and hour if I get distracted doing other things Blush
vitamin C facial oil with The In key List hyaluronic acid patted in over the top
facial moisturiser containing niacinamide
layer of plain old Vaseline all over my face and neck and left on slug style all night Grin

Firstly I do get water all over my feet most nights.

Thick cream cleanser massaged into dry skin. Warm flannel held on for a few seconds then used to clean my make up off if I'm wearing it. Rinse flannel. Empty sink and refill with warm water. Cream cleanser over face again (I usually use the same one but some use a different one) clean side of the flannel to take it off.

Superdrug Vit E hot cloth cleanser and Nip And Fab Deep Cleansing Fix are my favourites and are cheap.

Acid toner and then serum some days, retinol others, some days just serum.

Pixie Glow tonic, Nip and Fab glycolic pads and Clarins gentle exfoliator.

LRP B5, Dr Jart Ceramidin liquid, Super Facialist serums

The Ordinary or Pixi retinol.

Night cream sometimes with a bit of facial oil.

Super Facialist do lovely night creams, Clarins for the oil. I sometimes use Weleda Skin Food as night cream as well, which is very very thick but lovely.

That sounds like a lot but I really enjoy the ritual of washing my face at night and getting into bed with lovely creams and oils on.

I should have said that I was an believer in simple routines but with this routine my skin is flawless all the time, it's not dry, oily, dehydrated, I never get spots, my skin is glowy and even toned 100% of the time and doesn't change throughout the day or night.
It's surreal, I've never had prefect skin, and it still feels weird when I look in the mirror!

I’m doing Lush’s 30 day challenge with their Ultrabland cleanser. It’s a very thick, oily cleanser - very much like a lot of hot cloth cleansers.
Massage it all over the face and it literally melts your make up. Then wash it off with a warm, wet flannel. That’s it.
The challenge is to use nothing but Ultrabland for 30 days, and they claim it should “bring the skin back into balance”. It’s worked incredibly well for me so far - I’m about 26 days in

I used to use cheap skin care believing it was a waste of money and that the companies were just taking money off you. However, my skin was breaking out in spots and feeling oily so I invested in more expensive products with ingredients designed to combat oily skin and it really does work. You get what you put in with skincare and it’s worth spending those 5-10 minutes twice a day looking after your skin

Clinique Take the Day Off with a hot flannel, well rinsed, then Garnier Micellar Water (sometimes in reverse order.)
Mornings it's just Micellar water.
Then OLay Generist 3 point morning and night, sometimes add in Evolve Beauty Miracle Oil.

Have good skin in my 60s. Don't think using too many products is good.

If I wore anything on my face which was rare, I used Clarins products, had to throw them away in the end as they were so old from lack of use.

I use a flannel now, my skin is good. I use a very messy and gentle scrub of aduki beans, used to buy it from the Body Shop before it turned to crap, and have seen similar sold for a ridiculous price. I make my own, aduki beans, coffee grinder, into a little pot. Just need about a teaspoon mixed with some warm water and gently rub into your face, wash off (that's the messy bit). It brightens the skin and doesn't need to be done every night though.

Hot cloth cleanse: have Liz Earle, Superdrug Vit E, Body Shop Chamomile Butter and Boots Botanics balm on a kind of rotation, but at the moment I'm just using up the LE as I want to finish the tube. All of these are repeat purchases.

Acid tone most nights with either Pixi glow, Nip &Fab glycolic pads or good old Olay anti wrinkle toner. The Pixi is the least impressive and I won't repurchase.

After a bit, dsmpen skin again for hyaluronic acid serum. Currently using Vichy 89. Like it a lot and it's so much nicer than the foul Ordinary one.

Other serums in the bathroom are Nip & Fab Dragon's Blood, Nip and Fab No Needle Fix, Boots advanced P/P, Boots lift and luminate and a couple of others. Favourite is the Dragon's Blood and the n7 ones.

EL Advanced Night Repair.

Any old moisturiser. The only moisturiser I truly believe does more than moisturise is Neal's Yard Frankincense. At the moment I'm using blue Nivea and Weleda Skin food.

Last off, a couple of drops of oil. Best I've ever used has been Body Shop oils of life which works really well for me and really plumps my skin. Currently treated myself to LE Superskin Concentrate which I used years ago and loved. Not sure now, it smells great, but that's the neroli oil in it. Prob go back to Oils of life next.

First cleanse with TTDO balm
Second cleanse with various cleansers (I’m basically a cleansing slut) washed off with a flannel
LRP retinol eye cream
LRP retinol face cream (would recommend this btw, lovely gentle retinol, good for beginners)

I don’t find the retinol cream moisturising enough so I normally use a facial oil or night cream over the top, but I wait as long as possible so I don’t dilute the retinol.

I don’t get on with miscelar water, it gives me really angry, red spots whenever I try and use it. I had just bought a huge bottle of the bioderma one when I figured this out, which I now keep under the sink for cleaning scuffs off shoes, it’s surprisingly effective!

Nighttime, it's Superdrug Vitamin E cleansing balm with a flannel, followed by a serum followed a while later by vitamin E night cream. Nivea eye make up remover if I happen to have added some more makeup than my regular mascara. That's a tubing mascara so it just washes off.

Morning it's a swoosh of micellar water (l'oreal at the moment), the residue is rinsed off with hot water and a flannel, then a splodge of serum followed by a day cream with spf. Most of my stuff is the Superdrug own brands, mainly because they're cheap and bloody good (for my skin, at least). I like the vitamin E and the Simply Pure ranges. Naturally Radiant is nice too.

First cleanse with either body shop camomile cleansing butter, DHC cleansing oil, both with flannel. Currently using bioderma micellar water around eyes and nose with cotton wool ball instead of pad as a bit sore from hayfever and avoiding flannel on those areas.

Second cleanse with bioderma gel moussant in the pink bottle, or eve lom gel balm cleanser, or murad aha/bha exfoliating cleanser maybe once a week or so.

Tone with acwell licorice cleansing toner.
Hada labo hyaluronic light
La roche posay toleriane eye cream
Wait 30 minutes
Retin-a
Wait 30 mins
Eucerin 5% urea replenishing face cream mixed with Elizabeth arden ceramide capsule
Layer of aquaphor, mixed with LRP cicaplast baume b5 at the moment because hayfever is rubbish.

I do my vitamin c, and acid toning etc in the morning because of the Retin-a.

I started slapping a load of products on but honestly it's a massive con.

Now, it's a quick gentle face scrub in the morning shower. At night I use Clinique balm or the micellar gel to get the makeup off and then a flannel and soap (genuinely doesn't matter what) to clean. Swish over a bit of witch hazel and then moisturise. Once a week do a clay face mask; Una Brennan Superfacialist.

I have very cross, sensitive, dry, spotty skin. The only thing I'd actually like is something to get rid of my scars.

I agree with PP, most products, in my opinion, are a bit of a con! There are few that I am loyal to.

In the evening I do the following:

-Remove eye make up with sainsburys duo phase eye make up remover. It's only £1.50 and works really well.

-wash face with Nip & Fab Glycolic Cleansing Fix. This stuff is great, I haven't had any dermatitis or horrible huge hormonal spots since I started using it. I thought my skin would react badly to it but it's been the opposite!

-spritz with a hydrating toner although I'm not convinced it does anything, just feels nice

-put on eye cream. I've used a lot over the years and none of them make much difference to my dark circles, so now I just use a cheap one (sainsburys or boots)

-this is a new addition- I got some of The Ordinary retinol 0.2% delivered today to try to even my skin tone.

-night cream. Whatever is on offer! I really like Nivea and the Aldi ones are fab too.

I agree that many products are a con. Any cleanser and moisturizer will do. Your cleanser is going down the plughole and it's the actual sloughing off with the cloth that makes the difference. Ditto moisturiser. None (unless they include retinols etc) do anything other than moisturise. It's the active treatment stuff in the middle of the routine that makes the difference. The acid tone, vit C etc.

Micellar water is as evil as wipes are. Nasty chemical filled stuff. Might as well use a pampers wipe.
