The holy grail of Chelsea boots, desperately sought

Hi there,

I REALLY fancy a pair of Chelsea boots, which you'd think would be easy... but no.

Ideally, they would:

  1. Be black leather
  2. Have a slight grip on the sole to avoid me falling on my arse - BUT not have a bulky heavy sole (this is the hardest bit)
  3. Be quite neat and sleek, but not so narrow around the ankle that they make my calves look huge
  4. Have no unnecessary detailing (weird seams, coloured seam stitching, anything like that)
  5. Be really comfy (the ones I tried on in Office you could feel the stitching around the outside of the sole from the inside, and my colleague says hers from Clarks rub on the heel)

I am a size 5.5/39 and have quite narrow feet.

Halp meee!

Thanks.

RM Williams are the absolute best.

Ah, yes, there's an RM Williams in Westfield near my office I think - they are uber pricey (I guess they are to Chelsea boots what Loake and Churchill's are to brogues).

He also looks very pleased with them.

In my head, I had a budget of £120-150, but if they're the best, they're worth taking a look at. Thanks Lady.

I've got these and they're great. Super comfy, never rubbed and they're now on their third year and still looking good www.clarks.co.uk/c/Taylor-Shine/p/26111965

I have the Clarks Taylor Shine ones too they’re lovely - I think you should try them for yourself rather than take a colleagues word for it. All new leather shoes take a couple of wears for me to break in but they are super comfy now. Clarks have 20% off adults boots at the minute too.

I also have very narrow feet in an awkward size and they fit fine and come in half sizes.

That pic made me laugh a lot. He does look pleased!

I have the joules ones, mine have the pony skin on but sure there is a plain black leather option too. Comfy and decent gripage. They may have inner colour on the back loop thingy though.

I have the black Joules ones and they do indeed have colour on the inside of the tabs at the back.

My DD has those clarks ones and she says they are super comfy. Just because they don't fit your colleague properly doesn't mean they won't fit you. You need to go try some on.

I just got some nice rocketdog cammillas....zip detail in the elastic, but I like them. Aggravatingly so does dd, so I am guarding them with my life lest they disappear!

I got some Chelsea boots from Moda in Pelle this year, they are neat and narrow. Lovely leather.

I got some from Jones the Bootmaker last year that were simpler and wider.

I’ve got the Clark’s ones too. They’re on their second year and I can wear them for hours. So comfy.

COS have some great Chelsea boots this year.

I’m Australian and RM Williams are a complete rip off these days. They’ve basically trebled in price over the last ten years or so.

I've got the Clarks Taylor Shine too. I had to go down half a size because they come up quite big imo, but they are really, really comfy and don't rub.
