So, having faffed around about getting the flat on the market for years, we have now accepted an offer and had our offer on another flat accepted. Absolutely everyone I know seems to use Broughton Removals, any other recommendations? I already have an online quotation from Broughton, not sure who else to ask?

We're not moving far, but we do have a fair amount of stuff and I'm not even going to try doing this in a transit (DH's first idea).

We used Pickfords including their packing service as did everybody else locally I know. We moved flat to house in south Edinburgh.

Thanks - I think we'll pack (lots of stuff already in storage). Plus to be honest I'm too much of a control freak to let someone else pack Blush

Last move we did we hired a van and a self employed guy (friend) who was struggling for work in his actual business (not removals). He was grateful for a couple of days work.

All my previous rental moves were done with a van, but I'm just so stressed about getting everything done in one day. Moving stuff into storage for showing the flat was such an intensive experience I think I really need several people. Although we will need to hire a van for getting that stuff out once we've moved in, which I'm not looking forward to.

Last time we used a company (a few moves ago) it was because I was getting a relocation bonus. We got 3 quotes but I really can't remember who they were or who we used in the end.

Clockwork. We used them twice (Granton branch I think) and they were so professional.

Also Clockwork (twice), but both were a very loooong time ago, about 18 and 15 years. Good luck with the move, our one-and-only.

Clockwork moved one of my friends and were very good - but, as another friend discovered when he got them to quote for moving him, very expensive. (This was in Glasgow).

It was many years ago that we used them, but their quote was the same as Broughton and they were so much more professional, especially as we messed about with our dates (on both moves, four years apart).

I've moved twice and used Kerrs both times. Totally happy, no complaints. They moved us at short notice last time as well.

We used clockwork a few weeks ago and they were excellent (and beat Broughton's quote by a fair amount). They did all of our packing too, it went so smoothly, so I'd highly recommend them.

Forth removals - used them twice, half the price of Broughton, used their packing service too - best money I've ever spent!!

AMC Removals - they're based in Fife but operate in Edinburgh too. I used them and their packing service when I moved 2 years ago. Service was brilliant and significantly cheaper than other quotes I got. They re-built my two double beds for me too without being asked which wasn't within their remit.

We've used Forth and Clockwork. No complaints about either.

Thanks guys, will get quotes from a few of these and see. Finding this move pretty stressful so hopefully it will do us for a good few years.

I've used 2, Guardian Removals and Macayver Removals. I think Guardian were the best, I needed them for quite a large move and they did a good job. Macayaver were for a smaller move.
