Would he tell you?
I'm talking in thousands. Or would he hide it from you?

Do you really need to ask?!

What's happened?

WeeWillyWinkieFromEccles · 28/06/2017 22:13

Of course he would tell me. And we would decide together what to do with it.

Palomb · 28/06/2017 22:15

Of course he would tell me.

If I thought he'd hide it from me I wouldn't be married to him.

DividedKingdom · 28/06/2017 22:16

Yes...what's happened?

Asmoto · 28/06/2017 22:16

He would be pathologically incapable of not telling me, though the news might come along with his decision to blow the lot on a Harley Davidson and ride off into the sunset Grin.

Anyone normal would tell their other half. Why do you (need) to ask?

Report
Ellisandra · 28/06/2017 22:18

He might keep it a secret long enough to plan an amazing surprise as part of telling me, I suppose.

My XH tried to hide 1000s during our dinner divorce - does that count? Confused

Of course it's not right or normal!

Of course he would.....

DH has won money on two occasion (an £8k amount and a £4k amount) and both times he told me and we spent it together.

I'm guessing you've found out about a hidden win?

Even my H would tell me and we are in the process of splitting up!

Of course he'd tell me. If he won money , it would be OUR money. I can't think if a single reason why he'd hide it?

Being a DH myself, I couldn't imagine not telling my wife. All money is shared equally in my marriage.

Hmmm, to be honest I really don't know Blush

My dear husband would have told me every time he won so much as a tenner on the lottery. If he had won thousands I would have been the first he told and we would have seen it as a joint win.

Report
NerrSnerr · 28/06/2017 22:25

Of course he would. I'd see it in the bank anyway.

He's been doing some online gambling and I've seen how much he's won. He's not said a word and has angled the screen so I cannot see (I guess he thinks I'm stupid not to know what he's doing)
He doesn't as far as I know have a gambling addiction but he's always enjoyed a bet or two every so often.

Of course he would tell me. Everything is joint between us; we don't even have our own bank accounts.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 28/06/2017 22:27

Ahh, gambling. This wouldn't be an issue for me and DH because he abhors gambling; sees it as a complete waste of money.

He doesn't even like it when my dad takes us to the races and gives us a couple of quid to bet on the horses!

PurpleDaisies · 28/06/2017 22:28

The hiding it would really concern me. Why do you think he hasn't been open about it?

Report
HollyBollyBooBoo · 28/06/2017 22:30

Hiding it is one of the first signs he is a gambler! Just the same as any addiction.

Report
Crumbs1 · 28/06/2017 22:33

He's probably won a thousand and spent a thousand gambling. He's probably hiding it because he's hiding the extent of his gambling from you.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 28/06/2017 22:33

He wouldn't be able to hide it, he can't keep a secret to save his life. The hiding of online winnings seems suspect to me. I would wonder how much and how often he had gambled to make it so secretive- if it was a small amount once or twice why would he need to hide the winnings?

RoseOfSharyn · 28/06/2017 22:34

As a long term betting shop worker, I can guarantee he hasn't told you how much he's 'won' because he hasn't 'won' it, it's gone towards cutting his losses.....

I would guess he is hiding it as he's going to keep gambling it until it's gone

Report
ifeeltheneedtheneedforspeed · 28/06/2017 22:35

Not sure why he's kept it secret. Could be a number of reasons.

  1. I may question him on how much he's bet (even though this time he's been successful.
  2. We are not in a great place in our marriage.

The thing is I have NEVER stopped or tried to influence him on what he spends his money on. Never. So I'm quiet hurt about this. If he had said, 'holy crap I've just won £xxx' I would have replied along the lines of ' oh what you lucky bugger!! You can go treat yourself to that new xxxx that you've been wanting'

No he'd go out of his way to tell me as I would then we'd celebrate. I would struggle to keep it a secret.
