applying copper sheet to top of wood kitchen trolley...?

Have acquired an ikea bekvam kitchen trolley, thought it might look nice with the bottom painted and copper sheet put on the top (not foil, thick enough to withstand it being used as occasional work surface)

Has anyone done similar, any tips on where / what thickness of sheet to get, how to do it etc.?

Thanks

We will hopefully be doing our kitchen renovation soon, and have thought about copper counter tops.

Don't have any practical advice, but going to keep an eye on this. It sounds like it will look wonderful.

Google "DIY copper countertops". Loads of articles, blog tutorials and videos.

I think it would look fab - please update to show how it goes - I would be very interested!

Looks amazing - would be even simpler for a kitchen trolley top. Do it OP!

Strongly tempted for my new utility room...

Looking at copper sheets it might be more expensive than I was hoping...sad
