hi
I have had a long day at the hospital after a little bit of bleeding this morning.
I had a good thorough check up and baby seems fine, I had an internal as well which showed I am 2cms dilated but since this is my third baby thats probably meaningless!

Anyway while I was on the monitor I noticed the bottom line( the one i think measures contractions) was up and down quite a few time while I was there - not huge but up around half way up the scale amd back down around 3 times in the 20 mins.

I was wondering if these were BH contractions - I felt something happening while I was on the monitor but nothing major

I have been ont he monitor a few times in the three pregnancies (well alot of times since I have had preeclampsia twice lol) but the bottom line has always been pretty flat!

what does it mean!

btw I am only 35 weeks so I am hoping not to actually have the baby for a few weeks yet

Oh sorry one more thing was thatthe doctor said I was having alot of extra white discharge and did a swab for it - what does thi swab test for? meant to ask but I was half naked and forgot lol

thanks!

sophie

Braxton Hicks will show on the monitor as the bottom line does pick up your womb tightening.
You may have had a swab tken for thrush or Group B strep.

I was put on the monitor and told oh look at those lovely regular braxton hicks...

So the midwives and registrars obviously think they do show on the monitor

Of course I wouldnt like to say for defo.. cos those braxton hicks got me halfway dilated!!
