I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
//www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!prescribinginfosub

I would like to thank Everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

You are somehow managing to battle into work, then?

hey ealli and everyone

about the pill - I couldn't tolerate it either. Also some women have mentioned they get migranes or cystitis a lot ... has anyone else here found that?

Hope everyone is not toooo bad this morning.

dilly the HG tends to come and go depending on the hormone levels. You can often have a bad day or two then improve notably

I've had such a good week. Puked on Monday and Thursday. Then today I've kept nothing at all down. Trying to stay positive though. Traveling with the wounded pooch tomorrow to stay with family for a week. I figure I could do with a change of scenery and hubby could do with a week off of caring for two invalids (me and pooch).

Getting back to an even keel, I think. No vomiting yesterday. Horrendous heartburn but no vomiting. Heartburn less bad today, so hoping it's settling down again.

I am still trying to work, it is making me feel mentally much better. Apart from Thursday. but Thursday was very much a one off. There is only one more evening event this term that I might need to go to, in July. To be honest, I'm sort of glad that I was so affected by it cos senior members of staff saw the mess I was and hopefully will have made the connection...

I've never had problems with the pill or cystitis or migraines. Sorry to buck the trend!

I'm hoping that it was just because I was quite hungry when I went to bed so by morning I was so hungry I felt sick.

This morning I had to be up at 5.30am for work so had breakfast early and didn't feel unwell at all :)

mellee I'm glad you've had a good week. It's normal to have a bad few days after good ones, but it is difficult not to get down with it. A change of scenery will probably be good. I hope you have a lovely time.

Thanks ealli. I'm still nervous about whether or not I go back to work when my doctors note is up in two weeks. I'm not vomiting much but have constant nausea and spend most days doing very little.
Also nervous about the 2 and a half hour drive by myself tomorrow.

Hi everyone, hugs to all that are feeling crappy. I'm hoping it isn't just a coincidence but i'm finding ondasetron is helping massively - I am getting some appetite back and keeping it down. Still very light headed an weak but resting as much as possible and I have a sick note until a week on monday. Is it everyone first pregnancy? I have a 3year old and had hg with her, I got very low until it lifted and i enjoyed the last trimester and had a very easy delivery. I wrote a diary last time but once i was feeling better and read it back it seemed so dramatic and over the top that i didnt keep it - I think its safe to say I wouldn't have tried for another baby if i had kept it!! It is amazing how quickly you forget the nightmare that is hg once you feel better and have your beautiful baby. The support on this forum and reading everyones posts has made me feel so much better. Hoping everyone has a good day today!

mellee Try not to rush back into things if you can delay, you know better than me how having to overdo it - as eallison did the other day - makes things flare up again horribly. Will the doctor extend the sick note?
It is amazing about the different prices of various brands of ondansetron, I don't understand that at all. Is one more effective, perhaps having other ingredients, or is it just like brands of fizzy water? I hope everyone on it has been given pessaries or whatever to shift those tied up bowels.
Just what you don't need, that.
Bubble I do hope you've got those meds, and Dilly I do so hope that was just a glitch - being hungry can be disastrous. I remember one woman on here had to wrench open a bag of hot cross buns and eat one in a supermarket, while people looked disgusted at what they took to be insane greed.
Meerka Cystitis, trouble with pill and migraines from me for purposes of research...
Mellee Anyone who goes for this for a second, let alone a third time, has my awestruck admiration. You were probably wise to chuck out that diary!

managed to find new thread and just quickly marking place. sorry to those having bad days- hope relapses are brief and crosses fingers for speedy improvements. glad you are having more joy with ondansetron ems. i didn't have problems with pill per se but thinking about it often suffered with very bad headaches during pill free week and also sometimes get period related headaches now. my neighbour who also had terrible hg suffers very badly with migraines and has been admitted to hospital several times with awful sickness episodes during migraine attacks (non-pregnant), she also has period troubles and can't seem to get on with many hormonal based contraceptives incl m irena coil.

So baby is now quite active and I can feel it. Which is amazing. And hubby can feel it too. Also amazing. Unfortunately, if it's active for more than a few minutes at a time it really sets off the nausea and sickness! less amazing!

Hello Everyone !!

I survived my holls and had a temporary respite from the vomiting but its flaring up again. Felt very proud that i only threw up 5 times and 1 massive nosebleed during the week in france. It was all inclusive, so didn't really get to choose what meals we got served, but the kitchen staff realised what i could keep down (eventually) and miracles do happen - everyone else was eating one thing and i would be served something i could actually stomach with extra if i really really could keep it down.

Going by train was the best plan, no wooshing of the stomach or ear popping (if gone by plane), just a nice sit down, lots of toilet rolls and plastic bags for accidents, water, buffet car and clean loos. 9hrs to the south of france actually went by quite quickly.

Started back full time after the trip and i am so tired. Didn't quite make it in on time for over a week, occassional nausea and nosebleeds sort of grew and got worse - think its bubs way of saying slow down again. Got sent home one day, but the most amazing stuff sorted me out that afternoon - a nice lemonade ice lolly - now totally converted to them.

Hope everyone is doing ok, hugs to those struggling - like eallison88, I am getting wiggles and kicks now, making it worth the hassle, MATB1 form coming this week, so heaving sigh of relief - 3 more months of vomits to look forward to and then it will all be worth it.

Wow trixy! Your holiday sounds amazing, apart from the vomiting! I've had to cancel all potential holiday plans because of HG. Would rather not have to worry about where I vomit.

Ealli - I'm getting mild twitches that I believe to be baby moving, and that sets off the nausea. I'm hoping as they get stronger it makes me less nauseous, fingers crossed.

I made it the long journey to my dads house and it's so wonderful to have my 3 siblings and my stepmum looking after me and Chewy. We are encouraged to rest as much as possible.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

Yes yes to baby movements setting off nausea! Crazy isn't it. When I was pretty much bed bound and my husband used to come to talk to me him stood their talking and gestulating his conversation with his hands used to make me vomit!

It's like motion sickness isn't it! Car headlights coming towards me set me off so I would close my eyes, luckily I was a passenger!! Toggling between screens on a computer was bad too but one I found awful was the tesco iPhone app, at the start a load of different fruit and veg/food flicks up in a sort of video. It still sends me over the edge now, I have to cover it over with my hand!!

trixie sounds like you had a great holiday, I think it was great that the kitchen staff were so attentive, i cant imagine that would happen in most hotels.

hello completely agree about motion sickness, i've been particularly bad today and have needed to have my head rested against something otherwise everything is spinning.

I knew today wasnt going to be great as soon as i woke up, made myself get out of bed this afternoon and take a short car journey to my mum's -cue violent vomitting as soon as i walked in and smelt the roast dinner she was cooking!

Think i will just stay in bed tomorrow....

Luckily it only seems to be if baby does prolonged dancing that it sets off the sickness.

trixy I'm so glad your holiday was lovely and the kitchen staff were so on it.
mellee enjoy tine with family and being looked after. Hopefully the change will me things a little more bearable

I'm stubborn enough on holls to WANT to enjoy it (no matter what) and we had sent a lot of correspondence to this hotel to let them know the reality of what was happening. We had great service, but paid extra to have complete control over cancelling everything last min if i was that bad. Was a great big fluke i was so well, but wanted to tell everyone a nice story so everything isn't so doom and gloom and show some stuff can be done.

Shame the nausea is back.
