Just wondering what your babies weighed at birth and if they were on time/early/late? I had gestational diabetes with last pregnancy, he arrived at 36 weeks and weighed 6lb 6oz. I can live with that! Worrying about this one now as I have it again and his kicks are so strong at only 22 weeks. Scared that he's going to be a whopper! At my last scan 9 days ago they reckoned he weighed about 1lb1oz.

Induced (due to GD) at 38 weeks. DS weighed 3.9 kg which is something like 8lb 9.75oz. Needed forceps and episiotomy. Oh yay! He was a brilliant kicker, which I loved because it gave such peace of mind. Really hoping DC2 doesn't go over that weight!

Good luck with controlling the GD.

Oh well that's made me feel soooooo much better!! Haha. Got a growth scan on 1st September so see where he's up to then. Do you mind me asking, Did you have to take medication or was it just diet-controlled?

I was diagnosed at 26 weeks, I ended up on Metformin and insulin in the last few weeks. DD was induced at 38 weeks, also forceps and exposition. She weighed 3kg exactly so 6lb 9oz in old money :)

1st pg - gd (diet controlled), ds weighed 7lb10oz, born at 37+6

2nd pg - no gd, dd weighed 8lb, born at 37+6

So gd made very little difference to birth weight or duration of pregnancy.

I was induced and he arrived on his due date at 7lb3, I didn't have any intervention apart from the induction. If you control it well it doesn't need to end up in a big baby.

Thanks so much for replying. I'm still not sure what I'm doing?! Dietician was less than useless and might aswell have been reading from a script and she was only about 13! I want to see a dietician again, just not her, but feel bad asking to see a different one. I'm going to the GD clinic in Monday so will see what they say...

1st pg - no GD induced at 42 weeks weighed 8lb 7 oz
2nd pg - GD insulin controlled induced at 38 weeks weighed 7lb 8oz

3rd pg - GD metformin controlled - was supposed to be induced at 39 weeks due to Xmas but she came at 38 + 5 weighing 9lb 4 oz.

I'm pg again and have just had my GTT today.

My dietician was a bit naff but the diabetic MW's were fab. Was at the hosp for my 12 week scan 5 weeks ago and she stopped us to say hello to dd3 (7. &1/2 months) and couldn't believe we were back already haha!

I found that they were really informative and much better than the dietician when suggesting meals and drinks.

Hey OP,

First DC born 42+2 following induction. 8lbs 1oz. GD diagnosed at 36 weeks so blood sugars may have been high for sometime before that. Diet controlled from 36 weeks.

Second DC born 41+5. 8lbs 5oz. Monitored my blood sugars from the start and pretty much all within target.

So don't think it had much effect on birth weight. If it's any consolation I am a 5" tall size 8 and whilst my first birth was a bit tough due to the induction the second one flew out not problems at all!

Hope it goes well :)

my ds was 6lb 14oz at 36 weeks. and I kept my gd under control with diet and never went over the number 6 on my bloods. I was induced at 36 weeks due to my dd being stillborn at 36 weeks. otherwise they would of let me go toll 38 before induction, so who knows how big he would have been.

Oh fanjodisfunction... I can't begin to imagine how unbearable that must have been for you. I'm so sorry x
