SPD and support belts

I am 23 weeks and starting to suffer a fair bit from my SPD (had it from 14 weeks). I went to see a physio today on the recommendation of my midwife. She said they don't give out support belts any more but did give me two bits of tubigrip. Have been wearing the tubigrip today - it's a bit crap. She said I could try wearing it over my pelvis which I am doing but it slips up and ends up in a big roll just under my bump which is uncomfortable and digs into it. I will try with it over the bump tomorrow and see if that's any better. She then said I could buy a support belt but I don't want to spend money I don't have if the support belts haven't been that useful for people in the past. She said to look at the EmmaJane website ( www.maternity2nursing.com/product-display/maternity-support-belt-700 ). Has anyone tried the belt? Is it worth the money? Did it help or not? Or was there another one which proved good?

I was given an Emma Jane one by my physio. Seems to help, but haven't tried any others so I don't know if it's "better" than other brands or not.

I use one called Serola. Very good indeed.

I was given one that looks very similar to the one in your link, and I couldn't get on with it. It didn't fit comfortably under my clothes, made me feel very restricted and was impossible to drive with.

I have one that is quite different from my physio. It has a large back panel and three velcro panels that you put under the bump for support. I have only been using it for a week but so far definate improvments. I overdid it with christmas shopping today whilst wearing the belt and I am in little pain. This is the best example I could find www.google.co.uk/search?q=pregnancy+support+belt&hl=en&client=ms-android-samsung&tbo=d&source=android-launcher-widget&v=133247963&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=oXjPULGxKsiYhQfuxYDwCg&ved=0CAgQ_AUoAQ&biw=320&bih=508#i=47 - (Hope the link works I'm on my phone.)

Oh my physio did say most people find them uncomfatable when sitting down but there isnt really a need to wear it sitting down either. I mostly put mine on so far when I know I am going out walking, and for when I am pottering around the house doing the housework.

I bought a serola belt, it was genuinely useful to a point. Still have it. I think it was £26 .

Thank you for replying.

Did you all go to physio privately or is it just in my neck of the woods that you don't get given belts any more?

The one with the large back panel looks good but it's quite expensive. Hmm.
I'll try the EmmaJane one I think, as it's not so costly. If it doesn't work then I guess I'm looking at forking out for a more expensive one.
Not massively hopeful to be honest - the tubigrip is not helping and is quite uncomfortable but maybe that's because it is just tubigrip... grasping at straws...

Not private here, I think it depends on your area unfortunatley. Mw referred me to the phisio quite quickly also. I have read others on here have problems with getting the referral.

I wouldnt say the belt was particularly comfatable, but it cartainly helps with the pain.

Saw physio on NHS here via MW referral.

I agree that the belts aren't comfortable to sit in. My physio suggested wearing over tights / leggings but under top so it doesn't rub directly on your skin.
