Trying to conceive baby#2 following ivf treatment for #1

I thought I would start this thread as I can't see anything similar. We underwent many rounds of icsi and following a couple of bfns, and an ectopic pregnancy we were finally blessed with our beautiful daughter last year.

We recently started thinking about baby no 2 and had 4 frozen embryos of which 2 had been tested and found to be chromosomally normal so are meant to have a better chance. We didnt have the other 2 tested.

A couple of weeks back we had our first fet with one of the tested embryos and got a bfp super early at 4dp5dt. Sadly by 8dpt the line was barely visible and resulted in a chemical pregnancy. I've been feeling really down about it as this was meant to be a super duper embryo with no genetic problems which they said was the main reason embryos fail.

I thought it would be easier trying for #2 and of course it is in a way as I realise how lucky I am to have had a baby but I can feel the infertility fog starting to descend again as I realise although I've had a brief respite I will never be like my fertile friends and I do really want another baby and a sibling for my little girl.

Im feeling a bit negative at the moment. We will probably go back for the other tested embryo in the near future but I can't see how I would ever get lucky enough to get 2 bfps in a row. These things just don't happen to me so just not too hopeful about it at all. We said that if we used all of our frosties with no success we would be happy with what we have but already I am thinking should I do more fresh cycles. I will be 39 soon though so time isn't on my side for that.

Anyway just wondering if anyone else is in a similar situation and would like to share the journey. Please come and say hi.

twinkledag Mon 15-Apr-19 13:11:50

@GenghisKahnSchmitz - fantastic news on the HCG doubling. Here's hoping it continues to rise and rise. Good luck my dear.

@NoCupcakesOrCocktails - I'm so sad to read your update. What could this bleeding be? Has anyone given you any idea why this is happening? Sending you a big hug ❤️

As for me, I don't have 5 embryos anymore... I have 6! One was a bit of a slow goer but it's progressed over the weekend and 6 are now at the right stage for Day 3. Really happy but know this is just the start of the journey so not getting too excited 🙃

RunForTheHillock Mon 15-Apr-19 13:50:04

@nocupcakes - not sure if it is the same thing but I have bled/spotted before test date with every cycle. It is so stressful and my clinic are not really interested at all!

Great news @Genghis and @twinkle x

Can I ask if anyone has taken coenzymeq10 or ubiquinol? I am considering it if we have to do a fresh cycle. Anyone had any benefit? Dose suggestions?

twinkledag Mon 15-Apr-19 14:48:08

I used ubiqinol in this cycle and previous cycle. I did get better quality embryos last time than I'd ever had before even though less eggs were collected.

RunForTheHillock Tue 16-Apr-19 10:00:19

Thanks @twinkledag

justjuggling Wed 17-Apr-19 17:16:15

Hi, thought I would say hello and see if I’m in the right place?! I’m at the early stages of planning IVF for a third baby (DD1 was natural conception, DD2 was IVF with my eggs and this time will be with donor eggs as I’m 2 years post (early) menopause. So am trying to conceive #3 having had IVF for #2. Looking forward to following everyone’s journeys. 🙂

twinkledag Wed 17-Apr-19 20:06:20

Welcome @justjuggling

twinkledag Fri 19-Apr-19 19:27:35

6 blastos became 1 by day 6 so feeling pretty shitty. Didn't expect this at all. It's being PGS tested and we find out in 4 weeks.

Any news anyone?

@NoCupcakesOrCocktails - any update?

NoCupcakesOrCocktails Fri 19-Apr-19 20:13:57

@twinkledag I'm so sorry the numbers aren't great. I know how disappointing it is when you don't end up with much to choose from. I'm really hoping that the PGS is normal for your blast and you can go for transfer ASAP. Have your numbers been much better before? I've had such a variety with my cycles. 2 of my fresh cycles I only had 1 at transfer and one of those cycles was my little boy so you never know 🤞🤞🤞

Thanks for the kind words. I've been a basket case and finally caved yesterday at 8dp5dt and got a BFP. I couldn't believe it, obviously I'm made up but I've been here before and not got a baby so I'm not getting ahead of myself. Still got 4 days until OTD

NoCupcakesOrCocktails Fri 19-Apr-19 20:14:58

And hello @justjuggling where are you up to? Have you had any consultations yet?

twinkledag Fri 19-Apr-19 21:27:01

That's fantastic news @NoCupcakesOrCocktails! Thrilled for you and keeping everything crossed. Keep me posted.🤞

Thinking back now that you've mentioned it, I had 2 blastos on first cycle (DS is from this FET) and 2 at second.

Last cycle we had 5 at Day 5 but we all know how that ended.

We had 5 blastos at day 5 this time too but only 1 suitable by day 6 - the others were too slow.

snowdayfet Sat 20-Apr-19 01:41:07

Hi all - just popping back to see how you’re getting on. Amazing news for those of you with BFPs - hurrah!

Twinkle what do you mean about blasts not making it to day 6? If you have blasts on day 5 they should be biopsied and frozen then, not kept on til day 6?

twinkledag Sat 20-Apr-19 09:59:48

Hi snow, nice to hear from you.

I think I've got it wrong below - I mean we still had embryos at day 5 but they weren't blastos, they were a day behind where they should have been so too slow and not good enough to freeze. I hope that makes sense!

Chocolateandwineplease27 Sun 21-Apr-19 07:21:07

Fab news cupcakes - everything crossed xxx

twinkle I'm sorry there wasn't more - the whole process is so exhausting. Hope you get some good news from the biopsy. I replied on your other thread - this pregnancy is pgs tested xxx

twinkledag Sun 21-Apr-19 09:55:01

Thank you @Chocolateandwineplease27, please keep your fingers crossed for me 🤞

GenghisKahnSchmitz Mon 22-Apr-19 09:55:31

Sorry to read Twinkle, but fingers crossed for the pgs testing! We didn't even get any to blastocyst stage. I hope the four weeks goes quickly x

Congratulations NoCupcakes! Wonderful news, and good luck for OTD.

Welcome and good luck Just

Hello Snow!

twinkledag Mon 22-Apr-19 10:28:07

Thank you @GenghisKahnSchmitz. Did you have a day 3 transfer?

GenghisKahnSchmitz Mon 22-Apr-19 11:00:38

Yes, a double. According to the biologist, they were the best of ok-ish quality (nice and technical!) The remaining two then didn't make it.

twinkledag Mon 22-Apr-19 13:09:30

Amazing @GenghisKahnSchmitz, keeping my fingers crossed for you 🤞

NoCupcakesOrCocktails Tue 23-Apr-19 19:58:15

Hi just checking in to say it's OTD for me and I've still go a BFP. I'm excited but just taking it one day at a time. Got a scan booked for 2 and a bit weeks

Have you got a scan booked @GenghisKahnSchmitz? How have you been feeling?

Thanks @Chocolateandwineplease27 how is it all going?

Hope all is going well with your two little ones Snow

How are you feeling @twinkledag? I saw your other thread on PGS. I hope the next 4 weeks go as quick as possible x

twinkledag Tue 23-Apr-19 20:38:43

That's exciting news @NoCupcakesOrCocktails, really hope this is it for you 🤞. Who are you cycling with BTW?

I'm feeling ok I guess. Just wish we had more than 1 to pin our hopes on! Got told today though that it's a grade 2 hatching blastocyst so that's made me feel a bit better.

💐 to everyone.

NoCupcakesOrCocktails Tue 23-Apr-19 21:18:43

Thanks Twinkle! I'm with Care, that's who I had my DS with who was a grade 2 hatching blast so fingers crossed for your little embie 🤞🤞🤞🤞 x

twinkledag Wed 24-Apr-19 09:16:41

Thanks @NoCupcakesOrCocktails. I know it only takes one, and I know every embryo is different BUT I still can't help but feel like it's not going to work. It must be a protection thing. I think if I'm excited and hopeful and it doesn't work then I'll feel like a fool. May as well save myself the bother! But then it does only take one! Such a mindfuck!

Hope everyone else is ok this morning.

GenghisKahnSchmitz Wed 24-Apr-19 23:57:17

Ha, I'm totally the same Twinkle, and definitely think it's for self preservation. Good news on its grading though so fingers crossed. How long do you think it will take after you get the results to start your FET cycle?

Great news on otd NoCupcakes, I have a scan around the same time as you.

Hello to everyone else!

twinkledag Thu 25-Apr-19 09:34:01

@GenghisKahnSchmitz - if the results come back as good we will start the FET on next cycle.

Shoot me now people as I'm already looking at london clinics that offer unlimited ivf over 2 years and asking for money money from my mother in law! 😩🔫

NoCupcakesOrCocktails Sun 28-Apr-19 22:39:20

@twinkledag hopefully you won't need a plan for next time. Keeping everything crossed for this one. Is it the access fertility programme you are looking at? I've done the multi cycle programme with them, I've not had any complaints with them.

@GenghisKahnSchmitz keeping everything crossed for good scans for us both 🤞

Chocolateandwineplease27 Mon 29-Apr-19 09:27:12

Keeping everything crossed for early scan results and pgs testing. Such a stressful time xxx

twinkledag Mon 29-Apr-19 21:16:05

@NoCupcakesOrCocktails it's the one for 40-42 year olds, can't remember the name.

twinkledag Thu 02-May-19 09:33:00

How is everyone today?

NoCupcakesOrCocktails Thu 02-May-19 17:41:27

Hi Twinkle, how are you? Time is going very slowly here! How long until you get the results? Is it 2 weeks now?

RunForTheHillock Thu 02-May-19 19:50:46

Hi twinkle 👋 and everyone
I am doing ok thanks. Hope you are holding up for now. Have everything crossed for you 🤞

I got my downreg injection last week so waiting for period and go back for a scan. Then should start on the oestrogen, so hoping for transfer in early June (provided thaw survival).
🤞

twinkledag Thu 02-May-19 20:09:51

2 weeks till I get the results, am so scared 😞

Very anxious time for you @NoCupcakesOrCocktails. Keeping my fingers crossed for you - and all of us! 🤞

Good luck @RunForTheHillock 😊

NoCupcakesOrCocktails Wed 08-May-19 17:42:19

Hi just wanted to update from my scan. I ended up going in a few hours early as I started bleeding this morning. It's been quite heavy and I've been in a lot of pain with stomach cramps. Anyway amazingly there were 2 strong heartbeats and one baby measuring exactly right and the other 2 days ahead. I've no idea how to feel as I'm still bleeding. They couldn't see any cause of it on the scan so obviously I'm terrified I will miscarry. It's not really sunk in that it's twins yet confused

twinkledag Wed 08-May-19 18:21:57

Omg OMG omg! Amazing news @NoCupcakesOrCocktails!! Wishing and hoping things go smoothly, you so deserve it xxxxxxx

RunForTheHillock Wed 08-May-19 19:56:09

@NoCupcakesOrCocktails fantastic news. So so happy for you and sending positive vibes your way....

NoCupcakesOrCocktails Thu 09-May-19 08:34:13

Thanks Twinkle and Run. Have been feeling a bit OMG this morning. With all the drama yesterday I didn't really take in the twins but. I'm trying to not get ahead of myself worrying about how I would manage!

RunForTheHillock Thu 09-May-19 08:42:48

@NoCupcakes - do you mind me asking how old you were when you did the fresh cycle that gave you these Frosties? X

NoCupcakesOrCocktails Thu 09-May-19 09:03:21

@RunForTheHillock I was 36 when I had that cycle. I got 4 frozen embryos which was a real shock as I had 3 fresh cycles for my DS starting back when I was 31 and had really poor embryos. Out of all those cycles I only got one blastocyst and that was the embryo that became my DS. I never had any good enough to freeze. So somehow I got better quality embryos when I was older confused

How are things going for you?

RunForTheHillock Thu 09-May-19 10:28:27

@NoCupcakes I think we have quite similar stories...it took 4 fresh cycles to get my DS (at 35) and I have 2 frozen from that cycle which was by far the most successful and it was when I was older.

I am just hoping that one more of my Frosties has the potential to be successful, so hearing about twins gives me hope. We have decided to do SET but I am tempted to put them both back. (In case we have to do another fresh, so we don’t delay too much).

Wishing you all the luck x

NoCupcakesOrCocktails Thu 09-May-19 13:23:46

Yeah it does sound like we had a similar journey first time around! I was very much convinced on having SET as my consultant was really against a DET but once I got on to the 4th cycle I felt like I needed to up my chances, although he kept telling me it wouldn't increase my chances. I think I was getting frustrated as well as due to various health issues it's taken me 18 months to do one fresh and 3 FETs. I think if you want to do SET then you should have time on your side x

GenghisKahnSchmitz Sat 11-May-19 10:58:40

Congratulations on the scan NoCupcakes but sorry to read about the bleeding. Did the doctor give a reason? I've been having weekly spotting and it's really not good for staying sane.

Good luck Run, I hope your period arrives quickly so you can get started.

Less than a week to go Twinkle.. drums fingers

twinkledag Sat 11-May-19 11:08:54

@GenghisKahnSchmitz - I know! I'm so scared and my husband is saying he doesn't want to continue with treatment after this so I'm pinning all my hopes on this little one. Seeing the royal baby being born this week made me want a baby in my arms again so much!

Hope everyone else is doing ok 💐

NoCupcakesOrCocktails Mon 13-May-19 17:13:13

Keeping everything crossed Twinkle 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞 not long until you find out now

@GenghisKahnSchmitz sorry to hear about the spotting ☹️ have you had your scan yet?

twinkledag Mon 13-May-19 19:09:50

Thank you @NoCupcakesOrCocktails. I chased Reprofit today and they said they haven't hear anything as yet.

Sorry @GenghisKahnSchmitz I missed the spotting comment, hope all ok??

GenghisKahnSchmitz Mon 13-May-19 23:10:41

Argh, come on already! Hopefully you'll hear in the next day or two. DH was also pretty dismissive about doing another round prior to this one. It's very difficult to hear because of course he's entitled to his opinion but I was definitely not ready to stop.

And thanks both, the spotting has happened every Friday without fail, which is really weird. I have had a scan and all was okay, and no reason for the spotting was given but I go back next week for another follow up scan. I hope your bleeding has stopped NoCupcakes?

NoCupcakesOrCocktails Wed 15-May-19 20:50:56

@twinkledag any news? My DH has always said he's not doing it anymore after every round. I've managed to talk him around so far!

@GenghisKahnSchmitz I've not had any bleeding for 3 days so am really hoping that's it now. I went for my follow up scan today and all was well. So I've been discharged to nhs care. I was so emotional, I was really expecting bad news. Hope you don't get anymore spotting. What happens for you next? I know your not in the Uk so imagine you may have different appointments?

@RunForTheHillock how are you getting on with your cycle?

twinkledag Wed 15-May-19 21:39:22

No news! I'm scared ☹️

That is FANTASTIC news @NoCupcakesOrCocktails! Wishing you all the best for the next 8-9 months! Proper chuffed for ya 😁

twinkledag Thu 16-May-19 10:02:16

Embryo not viable for transfer 😢

What next?

RunForTheHillock Thu 16-May-19 10:05:58

Oh twinkle. Absolutely gutted for you. Could shed a tear myself. Take a little time to think and work out the next steps of your plan.
A huge hug to you x

twinkledag Thu 16-May-19 10:18:38

Wondering if I should try ARGC or am I throwing good money after bad? Just not sure why it's not working for us? Is it my eggs, am I too old? I was 40 in Jan.

Husband has a few sperm issues but nothing major, any ICSI/PICSI is supposed to overcome any issues? We've even been to see a sperm specialist who gave us encouraging news, I just don't know why it's not working when there is nothing really wrong with either of us.

NoCupcakesOrCocktails Thu 16-May-19 11:23:16

Twinkle I am so sorry. God how fucking unfair. I would take a bit of time and maybe reassess in a few weeks. Have you spoken to anyone with much experience of PGS? I'm just wondering if anyone has had similar experience and gone on to have success. My thoughts are that it could be really bad luck, you didn't have many embryos to test and it was really unfortunate that the one tested wasn't viable. I am so sorry you have gone through all this and will be here to listen if you want to rant or offload xxx

RunForTheHillock Thu 16-May-19 11:25:48

It took us four fresh round to get DS, and we were in exactly the same boat - why is it not working when ICSI should overcome our issues?
I came to the conclusion that it is a numbers game, and it took us a longtime to find that one embryo that had the potential.
I have no idea if we will ever have made/will make another.

There is no doubt that female age will effect the number of “normal” embryos you produce.

Only you can know where/when you want to start again, if at all. I hate those conversations we have to have with our husbands/partners. It’s just all so bloody unfair.
X

Russkispy Thu 16-May-19 11:36:51

@twinkledag I'm sorry to read this. We also had our frozen embryo tested and had trisomy in 18, not viable for transfer. Gutted! And just donated it to scientific research. We had 1 embryo transferred but didn't test. It stuck, had good HCG levels, strong heartbeat but ended in MMC at 7 weeks. I guess it has some chromosomal abnormalities too. The tissue was sent for testing and hopefully soon will get results. Im now 43 and wonder what's next for us. My doctor suggested donor egg and were considering it. But going to try naturally for a couple of cycles as I'm now under fertility coach care, wth new supplements, diet, reflexology and hypnotherapy. I'm willing to try it all and if it doesn't work, we'll go for DE.

twinkledag Thu 16-May-19 12:07:52

Thank you everyone. Starting to think DS was some sort of miracle! Since him I've had 7 embryos transferred and BFN and a miscarriage.

I'm 40, that's not THAT old is it?

Seriously considering ARGC...

twinkledag Fri 17-May-19 09:34:55

I'm really sorry to read your news @Russkispy. It's heartbreaking isn't it but I have found it easier to deal with it this way rather than BFN or miscarriage which just kills me.

So DH and I spoke last night about having a consultation with ARGC, it's worth a couple of hundred quid to sit down with someone and go through our history and see if it's worth trying again. My heart says to go for it - my head does too - after all there is nothing seriously wrong with either of us?

However when I picture the future I can't picture us with another child. But then that's silly to think like that as no one knows their own future!

My clinic emailed back and said we could try again but they would have to consider that my age is a factor. They suggested donor eggs too but I'm not ready for that.

So #operation40 started this morning! Eggs for breakfast with brown toast, switching to decaf tea, joining the gym and trying to get Uber healthy for ARGC appointment and possible treatment!

Chocolateandwineplease27 Fri 17-May-19 13:06:11

twinkle I'm so sorry to hear your news - was totally rooting for you. I hope you don't mind me suggesting somewhere but I'd definitely recommend an appointment with Mr Colin Davis (he's set up a new clinic called Evewell but see him rather than a diff consultant). He's v hands on and tailors your approach and has similar success rates to argc. He's also v caring but cautious/pragmatic so think you'd get honest answers and the best possible care. He's been a total rock through all my cycles and takes each success or failure v personally. Good luck with whatever you decide xxxxx

Chocolateandwineplease27 Fri 17-May-19 13:07:38

Also I had pgs with him whereas I know argc don't "believe" in it and push immune treatment whereas he's open to both. Feel free to pm me of course with any more details but he is the loveliest man xxx

twinkledag Fri 17-May-19 15:51:54

Thank you @Chocolateandwineplease27, I will look into him 😊

RunForTheHillock Tue 21-May-19 12:01:09

How are you doing @twinkledag?
(Hug)

twinkledag Tue 21-May-19 20:28:24

Thanks for asking @RunForTheHillock.

We have an appointment at ARGC next week to go through our history and see if there's any point continuing. Me and DH don't feel ready to give up but also need to be realistic so let's see what they say.

Mummyshark2018 Wed 22-May-19 18:13:45

Hello everyone,
Just jumping on as I need to offload.
So I have a 7 year old dc conceived via ivf when I was 28- she is amazing and I am so grateful. Due to a range of factors not been in a position to try again until recently. Had my AMH levels tested and today they came back at 2.2 which is extremely low for my age. Dh was due to have semen analysis test tomorrow but we've cancelled. I think this is the end of the road for us. Although another would have been wonderful I'm apprehensive about trying ivf with such low levels and was told the chances of success were very low. I was very lucky and conceived 1st time with dd and had a really straightforward protocol. I really don't want to face disappointment and heartache over a failed attempt. My dc was the one and only time that I have been pregnant.
Don't know if i am thinking logically or if it's the right thing to do but for now I need to put it to one side.
Good luck to all you ladies on your journeys. Xx

twinkledag Thu 23-May-19 09:35:00

Sorry to hear that @Mummyshark2018, wish you all the best for the future.

NoCupcakesOrCocktails Thu 23-May-19 10:43:26

@twinkledag glad you've got an appointment so quick and sounds like there are maybe some other options too like Chocolate mentioned. Let us know how it goes x

@Mummyshark2018 sorry to hear about your blood results. Have you thought about getting a consultation anyway somewhere with a good reputation? It might be worth it to get a specialist opinion. I know 2.2 is low but I don't know if that necessarily means there's no chance. I've only had my AMH checked when I was 27 and mine was 18 or 19 ish. I only realised years later that is not actually a high reading at that age. My consultant has said to me a few times that 10 years on he is sure my AMH would be very poor now

RunForTheHillock Thu 23-May-19 16:44:07

I am not a great fan of the AMH test. I had it checked once and it was 21, than approx 1 year later it was checked again and it was 11. Then It was checked a further year later and it was 22?!
It makes no sense. Apparently taking vit d can increase your amh.
Good luck with your journey - wishing you success x

twinkledag Thu 23-May-19 23:40:00

Thanks @NoCupcakesOrCocktails. On the way home from a work night out. Had a few drinks and a couple of cigarettes. So hard to be good all the time! I so wish I was free from this but also would love another child. Still have decided whether we go to ARGC, Lister or this Colin guy who has been recommended. Can't keep throwing thousands of pounds at this!

Why is it so hard? ☹️

Chocolateandwineplease27 Sat 25-May-19 07:14:14

twinkle - do you know bananafish on here? She's set up the uber barren club on insta and is an absolute wealth of knowledge! We both coincidentally cycled with Colin but she knows so many different people who have cycled at various places so she'd be a good person to ask re where to go etc. I am not sure how often she is on MN but on insta/twitter - she's amazing xx

twinkledag Sat 25-May-19 09:07:30

@Chocolateandwineplease27 - I do know her, I will PM her. Thank you 😊

NoCupcakesOrCocktails Tue 28-May-19 16:55:20

@twinkledag don't beat yourself up! It's impossible to be good all of the time and it's good to go out and blow off some steam. How are you doing? Have you had your appointment at ARGG yet?

twinkledag Tue 28-May-19 18:32:42

Hey @NoCupcakesOrCocktails, the appointment is tomorrow but now I don't know if I should go to Colin Davis instead... or Lister... really am in last chance saloon here!

How are you?

NoCupcakesOrCocktails Wed 29-May-19 16:54:52

I hope today's appointment went well @twinkledag
I'm a bit of a mess, I was at the hospital for a scan this morning after more bleeding and sadly one of twins heart stopped a few days ago. The other twin is doing ok but I've been told it may be affected by the twin that has died if my body tries to miscarry. There's a pool of blood around the sac of that twin so it's likely I'll keep bleeding. I'm feeling very scared. Whatever happens this 100% the end for me, I can't face anymore treatment although I do have one more cycle to use with access fertility. It's 10 years next week since we started ttc and I don't want this to be my life anymore

twinkledag Wed 29-May-19 17:32:21

Oh no @NoCupcakesOrCocktails, I wish I could come and give you a big hug 😢. What have the docs said, wait it out?

RunForTheHillock Wed 29-May-19 19:30:43

So sorry @nocupcakes. There are no words 😶. Rest up. Thinking of you xxx

NoCupcakesOrCocktails Thu 30-May-19 07:30:19

Thanks twinkle and run. Doctor said it's just a case of wait and see. Had an awful night, couldn't sleep. We are going on holiday on Monday. It's in the UK so might as well still go and hopefully it will distract me. My next scan is in 2 weeks

twinkledag Thu 30-May-19 17:04:14

Big hugs @NoCupcakesOrCocktails ❤️

twinkledag Wed 05-Jun-19 09:26:56

How are you @NoCupcakesOrCocktails?

NoCupcakesOrCocktails Thu 13-Jun-19 18:47:42

Hi @twinkledag thanks for asking after me. It's been an awful 2 weeks but I finally had my 12 week scan today and the surviving baby is doing well. I'm so relieved but the anxiety is already creeping back in after a few hours of relief. Just going to try to take it one day at a time.

How is everything going with you? How have the appointments gone? Any idea of what you will try next? X

twinkledag Thu 13-Jun-19 18:54:13

I literally jumped on my phone when I saw a message from you @NoCupcakesOrCocktails! I'm so pleased for you - and relieved! So so chuffed for you. I won't say try and relax now as I know how it is but it's another hurdle that you're safely over so let's celebrate that for the minute

I'm ok - going to see Colin Davis next week as recommended. Will let you know what he says.

NoCupcakesOrCocktails Thu 13-Jun-19 18:58:28

Thanks Twinkledag thanks yep you are right we need to celebrate these good days for sure!! I didn't know you could get notifications from mumsnet!
All the best for next weeks appointment, I've heard great things about him so fingers crossed 🤞 x

twinkledag Thu 13-Jun-19 19:47:55

You get an email if someone tags you in a post, as soon as I saw it I jumped on here 😁

How is everyone getting on?

I had my appointment with Colin Davis and I think we are going to go with him rather than ARGC.

He mentioned DH having an op to take the sperm from the testicles called TESE so he is going to write to our urologist and see if that is suitable for our case.

He also mentioned a high protein diet with lots of green veg, organic food and less plastic and chemicals.

If we do it we start in September.

NoCupcakesOrCocktails Tue 25-Jun-19 11:02:06

@twinkledag sounds like the appointment went well. Do you and DH think you will go for it? Does you DH have any problems with his sperm? I don't know why but I had it in my head you were unexplained.

I've had a busy weekend as my DS turned 4. God kids parties are so stressful confused am glad it's all done with for another year! I'm 14 weeks now, still feeling sick a lot of the time. No sign of a bump at all, am starting to think I've imagined it all. I've been so anxious, have got a midwife appointment today so am going to spill my guts there

twinkledag Wed 26-Jun-19 09:14:18

How did it go at the midwife @NoCupcakesOrCocktails?

Our issue is low morphology. Everything else fine. Colin Davis said my age prob not the main issue so that's reassuring!

We're in the process of getting all our ducks in a row to start in September. That gives us time to implement the lifestyle amends he recommended.

RunForTheHillock Wed 26-Jun-19 12:03:14

Hi @twinkledag and @NoCupcakesOrCocktails.

Twinkle - Really glad you have seen Colin Davis and there is a plan for September.

NoCup - delighted to hear you are 14 weeks now - hope you can relax a bit more.

AFM, we did our FET and got a BFP, currently 5+6 and a bag of nerves and had some spotting over the last couple of days. Obviously happy but early early days, and trying not to get my hopes up. Xx

twinkledag Wed 26-Jun-19 19:39:05

Amazing @RunForTheHillock! Congratulations!

Who are you cycling with?

NoCupcakesOrCocktails Thu 27-Jun-19 05:47:58

@RunForTheHillock that's brilliant news! I hope the spotting settles soon 🤞🤞

@twinkledag that's great, you will have a few months to get ready for the next go. Have you got many summer plans? Hopefully it will fly by

Well my midwife appointment was actually a consultant appointment. Waste of time tbh. When I said how anxious I was she just said that's to be expected confused no reassurance or support! I've got a private scan this weekend to try to calm my nerves

twinkledag Thu 27-Jun-19 09:29:06

No summer plans - no bloody money! 😂

It's my first school holidays with DS so trying to think about ways to entertain him for 6 weeks!

Good luck for your private scan @NoCupcakesOrCocktails, I'm sure everything is fine 🤞🏻

How are you getting on @RunForTheHillock ?💐

NoCupcakesOrCocktails Thu 27-Jun-19 21:12:39

@twinkledag do you work in a school? It will be lovely to have 6 weeks off together but yep I would be like what on earth will I do for 6 weeks 😂

My DS has come down with chicken pox today so that's brilliant hmm

twinkledag Mon 01-Jul-19 20:02:54

No I don't work in a school but it's DS's first 6 weeks summer holiday so I'm trying to find things to entertain him rather than putting him in holiday club every day 😊

cannonball8726 Wed 03-Jul-19 22:59:09

Hi all, can I please join? My little girl is almost three months old. Conceived through ICSI. We have five frozen embryos and would like to have a second baby. I'm breastfeeding. When is a reasonable time to make an appointment with my clinic? I was thinking of going back in six months if only to have a discussion - does that sound reasonable? Also - how long do they like you to have stopped breastfeeding? I would have liked to breastfeed for a year but also conscious that we'd like to get on with things. Grateful for any advice! Thank you smile

twinkledag Sun 07-Jul-19 22:55:06

Welcome @cannonball8726 😊

twinkledag Tue 30-Jul-19 18:12:19

How is everyone?

@NoCupcakesOrCocktails - hope things to progressing well for you ☺️

NoCupcakesOrCocktails Tue 13-Aug-19 15:16:40

Hi @twinkledag sorry I've been anxiously counting down the days to my next scan. 20 week one was yesterday and thankfully all was fine 🤞 I'm feeling really grateful.

How's everything at your end? Still starting in September?

twinkledag Tue 13-Aug-19 15:52:53

Fantastic news @NoCupcakesOrCocktails 🎉

Still waiting to start here. Colin Davis has recommended IMSI and PGS testing. Just waiting for input from our sperm specialist.

RunForTheHillock Wed 14-Aug-19 20:04:26

@NoCupcakesOrCocktails - brilliant news
@twinkledag - great that you are moving forward. We did PICSI to improve sperm selection and it was a good move.

I am now 13 weeks and had my scan. Delighted but remain apprehensive as always.

Big hugs to you all x

rainbowheart Sun 18-Aug-19 21:42:48

Hi everyone 👋🏻

Not had chance to look through the posts yet but wanted to add to it so I don't loose the thread.

I have a 9 month old from my first round of IVF.. am hoping to have a FET in the next couple of months.. already feeling the negative thoughts creeping in that I'm so lucky to have my boy after one round that I couldn't be so lucky a second time! X

Chocolateandwineplease27 Mon 19-Aug-19 06:25:13

Fab news runforthehillock - keeping everything crossed for you!

twinkledag Mon 19-Aug-19 09:20:28

Fantastic news @RunForTheHillock. We did PICSI last time but the cycle didn't work for us.

Welcome @rainbowheart 😊. Good luck with your FET.

We are so close to 1,000, someone needs to start a new thread!

AFM - DH met with the sperm specialist at the weekend who said we don't need TESE and IMSI is fine for us. He questioned why we're putting ourselves through this again considering our history (this will be round number 5). Now DH is also wondering why we're doing this and we've been having conversations about whether to stop. I don't want to 😞

twinkledag Sun 08-Sep-19 15:13:46

How is everyone? I'm having EC next week and have spent most of the weekend in bed. Feel exhausted 😪

NoCupcakesOrCocktails Thu 19-Sep-19 09:08:12

Wow twinkle, have you had EC? Keeping everything crossed for you 🤞 let us know how your little embryos are doing. How have you been feeling?

I've just been keeping my head down, still a bit in denial and haven't done anything to prepare for baby. I'm finishing work in 7 weeks so if I get to the point I think I'll have to start getting organised confused
