As you're on the net already, a news website will be more upto date than the TV.

They are just saying the DNA results are back from the blood found in the apartment, it resulting in an arrest is probably just speculation.

Both parents are to be questioned seperately today with their solicitors present.I didn't realise that some of the dna etc was retrieved from the apartment and car rented after madeleine disappeared

Why would they interview them separately, if they did not suspect there was something odd going on? any thoughts?

Seems they have been close to an arrest for days.

i hope they do have some idea of what went on although i cant imagine that the McCanns are involved as a news item i read said that "the dna was taken from somewhere the person shouldnt have been". Presumably unless it was teh loft space or under the floorboards then the McCanns would be free tgo go anywhere in the apartment they rented. Im sure its just to clarify timings and the like again plus it does add a bit of pressure and anxiety at this time

I am very ill informed but I am curious, what is the difference between formal and informal questioning?

They keep emphasising 'formal' on the news.

Report
wannaBe · 06/09/2007 14:07

the fact that the parents are being interviewed seperately, with lawyers present, would make me think that this is more than just confirming details.

and the statement that "they are being interviewed as witnesses and not suspects" means nothing as under portuguese law people can only be interviewed as suspects once they have been given arguito status. Similarly the friends of Robert Murat were interviewed as "witnesses" but their houses were searched and "evidence" was removed. Just because someone hasn't been officially named a suspect doesn't mean they're not under suspicion.

dinny · 06/09/2007 14:09

no way can they have been involved, no way surely?

Report

tinygang from what I understand, formal questioning is on the record and happens with lawyers present.

Aah thankyou wannabe.

Poor Kate McCann looks so thin and drawn these days. I really feel for them.

think it must just be to clarify events/tmes etc if there are discrepancies

dinny one would like to think/hope not but we can never really know can we?

Report
noddyholder · 06/09/2007 14:38

They have been given formal arguido status which in their case is being translated as 'assistants' whereas Murat was a suspect?Odd indeed although I have always thought there was more to this

Report
bundle · 06/09/2007 14:39

I would imagine their "informal" meetings with police would be updates for them as parents of the victim of a crime. The "formal" interview will be regarding their status as potential witnesses to a crime, surely?

Biological fluids of Maddie had been found by the laboratory of Birminghan in the samples sent pe it Judiciary Policy for England.

The cm knows that these vestiges - by rough estimate found not perceivable residues of naked blood in the apartment of the Oce-an Club and in the car rented for the McCann - already if find in the ownership of the PJ and will have to determine immediate developments of the case. Most important she will have to be a new interrogation to the parents of Madeleine and to some of the friends of the couple who if found of vacation in the Algarve when the child disappeared.

These developments based on the results of the biological samples today are also notified by some English periodicals that point with respect to the accomplishment of detentions in next the 48 hours. The samples most important, of the sets of ten that had been sent for England, must have been the collected ones in the apartment of the Mc-Cann in the Beach of the Light, in particular in the soil and a closet in the house where later the family if installed and in the car that had rented after the girl having disappeared. These samples had been collected after the English pisteiros dogs having signaled biological vestiges of blood and corpse odor in clothes of Kate McCann.

Decisive results
DNA of Maddie confirmed

Biological fluids of Maddie were found by the Birmingham lab in the samples sent by the PJ to England.

The newspaper CM knows that these traces ? residues of blood not visible to the naked eye which were found in the Ocean Club and the rented car of the McCanns ? already in the possession of the PJ should determine immediate developments of the case. Most important of all will be a new interrogation of Madeleines parents and some friends of the couple who were on holiday in the Algarve when the child disappeared.

These developments based on the results of the biological samples were also highlighted in various English newspapers who indicate there will be arrests in the next 48 hours. The most important samples, of the dozens sent to England, are the ones collected in the apartment of the McCanns at the Praia da Luz, especially samples from the floor and the cupboard in the house where the family lived afterwards and in the car which they rented after the child disappeared. These samples were collected after the specially trained dogs from England signalled biological traces of blood and the odor of a cadaver on the clothes of Kate McCann.

I hope they are finall getig to bottom of this case, it's so tragic

That sounds like a big pile of invented crap to me. Just like the rest of the dodgy journalism in this sad case.
They have probably decided that as the McCanns are going to court they might as well be as offensive as possible.

According to the same newspaper (correio da manha), a syringe was found in the Mccanns room with tranquilisers. Also, they claim the sniffer dogs detected the smell of a dead person on Kate's clothes, a pair of jeans and a shirt...
I'm not so sure how much they can be trusted tbh, it all sounds a bit odd....

Report
lucyellensmum · 06/09/2007 16:13

this all sounds so wrong, the mc canns wouldn't have been so determined to keep this case in the public eye if they were complicit. As for a syringe in the cupboard? Why would they be so stupid as to leave it there. I think we will never know what happened to that poor little girl, the media have turned it into a soap opera
