I really don't understand it. Even on here I've seen so much dislike of children who are born naturally smart. I doubt anyone will own up to it but I thought I would try

YeTalkShiteHen Tue 09-Oct-18 19:47:25

They don’t, they hate the parents wittering on about it endlessly. Or that’s the impression I get on here anyway.

Racecardriver Tue 09-Oct-18 19:48:19

I really don't think that anybody does though. At least I have never experienced this. Where have you seen this?

MoseShrute Tue 09-Oct-18 19:48:19

I dont think anyone here hates gifted children
.....mums who shamelessly brag about their children....now that's another matter..

WrongKindOfFace Tue 09-Oct-18 19:48:47

Yep, it’s the parents.

Did I mention that Annabel can do her millionty times tables and she’s still a foetus?

GreenTulips Tue 09-Oct-18 19:50:39

It's usually parents who say 'Ellenora is too in maths don't you know' when actually you know that's not true!!
'Oh another star of the week award for Tristan' yeah they all get one

Nobody hates gifted kids, it's the way their parents think they're more special than other children that is beyond irritating.

RoboJesus Tue 09-Oct-18 19:51:58

Nothing to do with the parents. Everyone is happy and proud of their childs achievements but it's just the gifted kids who receive the hate

WrongKindOfFace Tue 09-Oct-18 19:54:27

Oh god, are you the one with the four year old working at Stephen Hawking level? I didn’t know they had reception at Oxford.

Labradoodliedoodoo Tue 09-Oct-18 19:55:01

It’s the parents. Not all of course.

Fatted Tue 09-Oct-18 19:55:14

Nothing to do with kids. Everything to do with parents who brag about their children. I am genuinely in awe of truly talented and gifted children. I'm not as bothered about pushy parents who brag about their children who actually aren't gifted or talented at all.

CountessVonBoobs Tue 09-Oct-18 19:55:30

Well, I just won my bet with me on who had started this thread.

Labradoodliedoodoo Tue 09-Oct-18 19:55:48

I have gifted children but don’t have need to discuss it day to day

user187656748 Tue 09-Oct-18 19:57:22

Its the parents. DC has a friend who has been on child genius. Clever child but clearly pushed into things like that by the parents.

MissMarplesKnitting Tue 09-Oct-18 19:57:46

Oh look. The child prodigy's parent is at it again.

I love gifted kids. They're bloody fantastic to teach.

Their parents..... sometimes less so.

AornisHades Tue 09-Oct-18 19:58:48

Yes it's the parents and me too Countess

buscaution Tue 09-Oct-18 19:59:35

Erm, no. It is the parents. Well certainly on here it is.

Where are you hearing about gifted kids receiving hate?

Livedandlearned2 Tue 09-Oct-18 20:01:43

I've never hated a gifted child. I have one, he's more gifted than yours op.

haba Tue 09-Oct-18 20:04:04

he's more gifted than yours op
What are you basing that on, as OP deliberately never says what he can actually do? grin

Armchairanarchist Tue 09-Oct-18 20:04:05

Let me guess, you're mum to a genius. Bore off. No one hates DD because I don't go on and on and on...

GreenTulips Tue 09-Oct-18 20:04:35

It's the parents!

YouAreMyRain Tue 09-Oct-18 20:05:20

It's definitely the parents!

NannyR Tue 09-Oct-18 20:06:56

Why on earth would anyone hate (such a strong word as well) a child just because of their ability?

spreadingchestnuttree Tue 09-Oct-18 20:07:03

I dislike the term "gifted" as it implies innately special and superior. But I don't dislike very bright children at all.

Livedandlearned2 Tue 09-Oct-18 20:09:28

She also skims over poster's comments and repeats herself. Is this a regular thing?
