For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information here (follow the link at the very bottom of the page)

Morning

So for I have had prune juice, banana and dried apricots.

My goal is to go to pilates tonight. I feel on a bit of a roll after aqua aerobics, and I need all the mental strength and positivity exercise breeds as ds is being rather challenging at the moment.

Cold sufferers- I always gargle with salt sage and cider vinegar at the first sign, seems to stunt it somewhat, that and megadose of vit c with zinc, like 2000mg. Rarely lasts more than a day now.

Tatties- having a dilemma about my name at the moment, told dh I change it and keep mine for writing but I'm wobbling now. My name is sooo much nicer (imo). The children want me to have the same as them though, and it does seem right but, oh I don't know. It's such a major pain in the arse as well.

Seeds and sultanans in my porridge (do they count?) and a large bowl of fruit salad so far. Ooh, only just noticed the carrotty title!

and a spoon of raw garlic chopped into honey, and some echinacea and rosehip syrup in a hot toddy helps too...

I was pmsl at those carrots. Reminded me of a sketch on the Fast Show (I think) where someone is displaying some rude vegetable pictures, saying, "ere, what does this remind you of?"

Anyway...

MrsCarrot the name thing is funny isn't it? Dp and I aren't married but I have often agonised over surnames. I don't LOVE my surname, but it is me and I really don't feel I could change it. Ds has both our names and from time to time I feel uncomfortable about that (although I feel it is right, it may have its problems...) Is your dh keen for you to change it?

Franny sending you LOTS of positivity. Just tell those germs to PISS OFF! YOU ARE NOT WELCOME HERE

Hello all!

Southsea was cool - collected tent without getting too lost, played on beach, went to Portchester castle (nice English Heritage people let us in free even though I had forgotten my card), then I thought, "I know, we'll pop into Southampton and find another beach before we go home." Only to discover that Southampton doesn't have beaches. But by then I'd promised so we went to Boscombe which was lovely and the dcs played in the sea until nearly 8.00 (Bad mummy - and on a school night too!) All in all, we didn't get home until nearly 11.

And this morning I have been making bread with ds2's class - it was great fun.

But I haven't eaten much, so will do that now.

Incidentally, what do you do when your toddler does a poo on a beach?

Franny, snotty colds are a Good Sign as your body is throwing off things it doesn't need.

But have some sympathy anyway.

Hello and a sympathetic nod to Franny ( I hope it's not a man cold--they can be horrid when they cross over).

Have just been restocking the fruit and veg so I have masses to choose from (rather than just the remainders).

Southsea is good fun, TooTicky, and also a little bit lentilly, you should try the aquarium next time.

Ok I walked dd to school and back so that is two walks of around 10 minutes each. Not a huge amount admittedly.

Fruit and veg wise I ate, a mandarin orange, some rocket in my sandwich, some grapes, onions, peppers, carrots and bean sprouts in my pad thai. So not quite ten out of ten I guess, will try harder tommorow.

Thanks MrsCarrot, that is what I did. Well, almost, as I didn't have a spade. I felt terribly guilty doing it though!

Right, have eaten: orange, kiwi, small amount of pear, 2 cherry tomatoes, avocado, and am now eating curryish thing containing butternut squash, spring greens, onions, garlic, potato and lentils. Oh, and ate a mound of grated carrot earlier.

Franny, have some more sympathy. I hope you feel better very soon.

hello folks
i have just been eating some of my 'micro greens' and just had to tell you all how yummy they are.
i read about them in a mag or something... basically jusr=t sow a seed tray with herbs of choice (i currently have 2 trays divided in halves so 4 diff seeds), put on windowsil or under glass and water till they grow past the first 2 leaves (apparently the first 2 leaves are techjnically part of the seed, the next 2 are the first real leaves) then chop em down and use them in salads, wraps, whatever.
they are delicious! and apparently they have all the vits and minerals of the full grown leaves but concentrated in tiny tender sweet leaves.
start a new set when used about 1/2 the first lot to not run out.
my current ones are ; rocket, lambs lettuce, coriander and basil. and v delicious they are too (even if the gumf about 'concentrated' vits etc is bull which it may be)
