Recommendations for really supportive/cushioned walking shoes/boots?

Just that really; I've been trying to do more walking recently e.g. along the canal. I walk for 2+ hours so have been wearing running trainers because otherwise the balls of my feet and shins get sore. But in the freezing cold and rain the mesh running shoes aren't really up to the job!

Have tried on a couple of pairs of waterproof lightweight walking boots in Trespass but was disappointed at the lack of cushioning compared with running shoes.

Any recommendations for walking shoes/boots that feel like running shoes in terms of cushioning but are waterproof and warmer?

Thank you. :-)

I need to wear supportive shoes, but haven't found any walking boots that feel as supportive as running shoes.
I wear Meindl walking shoes and even though they don't feel like running shoes I have no problem with them, or my feet during/after a walk. I've yet to find another brand that offers similar level of comfort.

I’ve some Decathlon boots which do the job.

Brooks Addiction walking trainers. Very comfy and supportive with cushioned sole. I used to get plantar fasciitis and sore joints periodically after walking. Haven’t had either since I got these.

Sorel have amazing walking boots. I find mine more comfy than my ASICS trainers - they are thermal too so keep my feet cosy. These are the ones I have: www.sportsshoes.com/product/srl25/sorel-out-n-about-plus-conquest-women's-walking-boots-~-aw20/

After a rec from s&b I bought some amazing north face light weight hiking boots - highly recommend!

Peter Storm Snowden boots. Warm, cushioned, waterproof. Often discounted. Not cheap but I walk miles daily with my dog and they’re like 4X4s for your feet. Never had a cold or wet foot and it’s like walking on air.

Silly question perhaps but are you wearing proper boot socks - perhaps with a liner too - when you try on the boots?
Trespass own brand boots may not be too good - better go to somewhere like cotswold that have a good range of quality boots. It's worth spending time and money getting a pair that are right for your feet (what suits one person will not work for another) - I've walked a thousand miles or so this year alone in my berghaus boots. Cost per mile is negligible!

Alternatively, have you tried on any goretex trail shoes? Mine are also berghaus; I had a lovely ASICS pair but they were just a wee bit too small so I gave them to DD. Supportive and totally waterproof.

I use approach/hiking shoes all year round on muddy dog walks in the woods on uneven terrain and for hiking in the lakes. My current pair are ancient Saloman ones. Good tread, supportive, keep feet warm, Gortex so waterproof. Sadly these are years old and need upgraded as just started to let in this week. I need a new pair but something similar would work for you. Try a few pairs on, look at reviews and look out for Gortex.
