Shiny new thread!

Hope you're feeling ok now Tri.

I'm using up holiday today & went to the pool again. 350m (ok with brief breaks each time I reached a wall!) and for the first time since school, daring the deep end. Thanks for the video tip.

Scenic 10k planned for tomorrow.

Hi everyone, can I join please?

I'm hoping to run 5k in the morning, hopefully my knees won't grumble too much. And I have some new leggings to try out 😄.

Yah new thread thanks empress glad to hear swimming is making some progress. I’ve not swam for nearly 3wks now but should do Monday.

Welcome oneMoStep hope the weather is kind for you as the forecast here is grim.

I Ran 5k tonight and on Wednesday so had good running week so far. Got a 5k “poppy run” tomorrow with few local folk and both my DDs want to do it, the medals & tshirts arrived Thursday and are lovely. Shame the weather looks wet & windy so I hope it improves by lunchtime!

I've only done a couple of very short runs this weekend for various reasons. I did enjoy them though, which is great after Ronhill's RunEveryDay in October.

It's so cold here (and I tend to feel the cold) - I might check out some new running gear...

I got running legs from Aldi a couple of weeks ago and they are lovely and warm. Plus I’ve fished out my cycling fleece headband which I pulled on the other morning it was great kept my ears warm & headphones put Grin

Longest run this morn 14k / 9.3 miles as I edge closer to the elusive 10mile run I hope to do before Xmas Smile to keep on track for my HM training. Anyone else got a spring event lined up as motivation for winter running?

Got 5k in Wednesday night in as my mid week maintenance run as I’m trying to do 3x a week and plan to run Saturday morning whilst DD is at her club, prob 45min run.

How’s everyone else getting on?

I was knocked out last weekend by a vomiting bug, been working from home all week & almost back to normal.

Back in the office on Monday but I'm going to give it a few days before I get back into exercising.

Sounds like you're doing great, Tri!

I've done a couple of 5ks over the last few days. I'm enjoying it 😊, which is great.

I'm still cold though 😄, and often feel like a bit of an idiot in what I'm wearing. I keep looking at running gear online, but I'm not really sure what I want.

TriGirl007 · 17/11/2017 20:17

Oh sounds horrid empress hope you are back up to strength soon. The bug has hit my DDs school so I’m really hoping we dodge it!

No one is prob taking any notice onemorestep as long as you are comfy in what you are wearing. Smile well done on your runs.

Thanks Tri. Half my team are down with it, but I'm feeling well enough now to walk into town tomorrow & have CAKE. Grin

I'm the opposite, OneMo. I can be freezing on the warmup, but once I'm running I'm only comfy in a top & 3/4 length leggings - anything else is too much! I guess it's all relative though, I'm in London.

I got in 9k today whilst my daughter was at her club this morning but had to hammer the last 2k as was running later but ended up with my fastest mile as a result Grin

I did my long run today (10k) 😊, I loved it.

I wore long leggings, a vest, a long sleeved top, a buff to hold back my hair, and gloves - it was really cold, and I felt like I had the right clothes on for me. I hadn't tried the vest + long sleeved top combination before.

I hope everyone has enjoyed their weekend runs 😊.

TriGirl007 · 19/11/2017 20:54

That’s brill one well done. I’ve used a buff plus two layers recently but tend to strip one off half way. I have been needing a hot bath to warm after my long runs as I feel “chilled” an hour after finishing I’ve seen that lots of others have the same reaction so I think it’s a “bodily” thing recovering from longer runs.

Evening ladies, empress and tri I recognise you from the old thread and possibly the half marathon thread. Had a trillion injuries though so not made it further than 8 miles and couldn't do my half.

Back to it tonight after an injury on my good leg Grin Love running in this weather. I wore a long top, Capri's and gloves then came back and had a hot bath

Waves at shortaris glad u still running despite injuries. It’s hard to keep going when your mind wants/needs to but body is struggling. I did 8.5m yesterday but had planned to do 9.5m but everything was niggling after a mile so I cut the pace and just plodded. I was zonked afterwards both my kids have a cold (..again) so I’m probably fighting that off. I love the colder weather too for running much more pleasant than the summer.

How have everyone's runs been going 🙂?

I don't think I've run when it's been frosty before (I usually give up when the clocks change in Autumn 😳). I nearly fell once or twice yesterday , and I did question my sanity a few times too.

I'm building up my distance at the moment, and I'm pleased with today's long run. I suppose my next goal is 10 miles (eek!).

HELLO SHORTARIS!!!!

10 miles OneMoStep? Wow.

Hope you manage not to get the cold, Tri.

It was cold, crisp & sunny here today but we haven't had frosts yet. I usually get really sweaty running whatever the temperature so this is definitely more comfortable for me. I went for a beautiful 10k along the Thames, boats, ducks, trees & not a car in sight.

I’m dodging the bugs at mo keep getting the sore throat then goes again but bless them both my kids are really struggling.
Ran 8k tonight just went out to run had no goal or time in mind hadn’t planned it as DH had been away all weekend but got home earlier than expected so I nipped out Smile
My next goal is10miles, I’ve got to 9m but legs & body felt weary last couple weeks so I’ve backed off a bit but hope to go for it in next couple of weeks if I keep healthy Smile. Weather is perfect for me I love running in cool crisp cold days.
Sounds like a gd run empress and I hope you hit your goal onemore

Hope your legs have recovered empress.

Have you been out again onemorestep or shortaris?

I got out for 30mins on Tuesday and tried using my arms more to pump up a hill and boy did my shoulder joints ache the next day & today! It did marginally up my speed on the incline but I’m surprised how much I ache because of it.

OneMoStep · 02/12/2017 19:46

We've got the same goal, but you're a bit closer to it Tri 🙂.

I've been out running a couple of times this week, and will hopefully try a longer run soon. I feel quite bad ass when I'm out for a long run, especially when I'm running up a hill 😄.

OneMore, I think being able to run up hills is VERY badass!

Thanks my legs are ok but my back is struggling abit but that could also be the two hour xmas wrapping session this arvo Grin hunched over the tape n paper not good!
(Disclaimer I’m not normally this organised but we away/busy lots leading up to X Day!
I must admit I prefer the 10k distance and finding the jump up hard going physically and once I’ve done the two halves I think I’ll drop the distance down again. Im eyeing up a couple of novice Tri’s again next year to keep life interesting Grin
