What does a project worker do?

Hiya, thinking of going back to work but want a career change. Ive worked in care and have Diphe in nursing although i havent been back to nursing since i qualified as i fell pregnant. And now i want to do something different. Theres been a few jobs advertised for a project worker but i havent had the confidence to apply as im sure exactly what it entails. It seems that i may come from a suitable background as obviuosly ive worked in care. I know one vacancy is working with people and carers who have parkinsons and given advice. But what skills will i need? I dont know alot about parkinsons but would be willing to learn.

Having worked as a Project Manager in IT, I should imagine it will involve co-ordination of activity and resources, resourcing, financing maybe. These kind of jobs are good as you get to use more than one skill set. Why don't you give them a ring and find out more. Go for it

project worker is like a support worker..it tends to be seen as a little more than a carer. Instead of taking care of personal and basic needs it is also about enhancing a persons lifestyle and promoting independence. Encouraging individuals to have as a normal a lifestyle as possible and finding ways to bring in daily living skills that will help this.

The parknisons one seems ideal as its only 10hrs per wk and would give me experience for a project worker role.It also says its based at home. Arrrrraaaaggghhh its one of those jobs that i havent a clue about or would never normally consider applying. Am i feeling brave....

just do a little research on parkinsons via net to have an idea what you would be dealing with as could be challenging behaviour needs.

I worked for age concern a few years ago and i am a qualified nurse but i havent returned since qualifying as i fell pregnant and dont really want to do those long hrs again.I do have GNVQ in health social care. Its prob just the cinfidence holding me back. Is it a job where you can really progress and with good earning potential would you say nimo?

projects

to work independently as a project worker can open up more potential than working in a care/residential home. Just depends on how well you are trained and supported in the role. Earning potential is probably not the best would expect to be paid around £6.50 an hour at least in that role and am up north. Is it a orgnaisation or just a private person looking for a project worker.

Its a charity the Parkinsons Disease society.Oh just noticed they have a website maybe it will have more info on the job
