Ideas for expanding income

I am currently self employed own and run a successful online shop but I also still work 3 days a week as a "back up" wage. My employed work is as a legal secretary - partner level for the last 20 years. Some months I get a fairly decent wage out of my self employed work but then I might get two months where it's awful (hence the back up wage)!
I'd like to eventually give up work and concentrate on my business full time but I'm scared I wouldn't earn enough to pay the bills. I was wondering if I could use my legal/typing skills to boost my income at home so I wouldn't feel so scared about taking the leap! Can anyone recommend any agencies they use for typing at home?

I'd like something that enables me to do it at my convenience too ( I.e when child in bed, weekends etc).

Anyone point me in the right direction or can give me any inspiring stories about leaving your job and going self employed full time?

Just spoke to my secretary (I'm a solicitor as my day job) yesterday and she was telling me about working in the evening for Document Direct. She's only just started with them but seems very flexible and she is doing all legal secretarial work. I don't know if they're local or nationwide (I'm in the north west) but there are probably tons more similar agencies - have you looked on google for document/typing outsourcing?

I would love to leave my day job and focus on my business (50s style wedding & evening dresses) full time - hope it happens one day.

Thanks, how interesting, my business is also wedding related but more of the accessory kind Wink. We prob know of each other. I'm also North West.

I have Googled but I'd prefer a recommendation as there are tons and I'm sure some must be better than others. Smile

I know the bigger regional commercial firms seem to send work to Document Direct as my sec has named the firms - private mail me if you want me to tell you who they are Smile.

I don't MN on my phone (too technophobic) - I have a web shop and I have turned the top floor of my house into a sort of showroom for brides to come and try on. Had my first bride on Wednesday, got another tomorrow and 2 or 3 a week from now til Christmas which I'm really pleased with given that I haven't done any advertising! Grin

You can private mail by clicking the 'message poster' link above posts. I will look for you now by searching best wedding accessories North West Wedding Awards...!!!
