think have got some scar tissue - feels hard and lumpy

anyone else have that?

also got weird skin tags sticking out "down there"

is that normal? will they go away?

i did have three big second degree tears that were stiched up (badly - as got infected and reopened) including one urethral tear!

i have a hard lumpy bit but it is inside and i think its from the episiotomy i had 7 years ago, its still there after 7 years so i doubt it will go away. I had a bad experience with my stitches also, resulting in them popping open and not being sttitched again, wont say how it happened though

My 2nd degree 'tear' scar (I suspect it was an episiotomy) disappeared pretty quickly - after 5 yrs I can't find it, even when PG! I did have a pretty massive skin tag though, and all I needed to do was tell my GP that it was uncomfortable, and it was removed - a v. quick local anaesthetic op, only sore for one day.

Ouch sounds like you had a rough time.

As to the skin tags - I had a spare flappy bit (approx 1 cm) after a 2nd degree episiotomy/tear. It kept bleeding when I wiped after going to the loo (this was several months after the birth).

I saw a GP about it, and she said it was basically like a polyp - a soft blob of nerveless tissue - and she thought she could pull it off She did it right there and then! No painkillers but I couldn;'t even feel it. She the cauterised it with silver nitrate. Voila - one happy fanjo.

Hope your skin tags can be sorted easily too

lol watling, I know! You should have seen my face when she told me what she was going to do. It really didn't hurt at all though. It did sting a bit when she painted on the silver nitrate, but not badly.

I too have an extra bit of skin from a second degree tear it feels on my labia which has got bigger and theres a hard bit on it, I feel quite self conscious about it DP says he doesn't notice but still.

Coincedently I had 9lbs 3ozs DD2 18 months later and only had a graze and was absolutely fine down below so it can be done, it was a HB so knew MW and she knew about my scar she said she saw it start to strain and slowed everything down and guided the head out so if you have another baby write it on your notes!

I am so glad I found this!

I have been worried for months about some weird flaps sticking out of the entrance. If i tense up tightly they disappear but if I let go they appear again!

Been to GP who said it's just the way I'm left after childbirth (3 years ago) but I wasn't convinced, I thought I had some weird warts or something!!

There are a few though and one shaped like a finger!!

Sorry if TMI but I just feel relieved others have the same!!

Think I should just leave them? They never bleed or itch or anything.

Soo glad that i have read this!! I thought i was the only one!! I tore with my daughter (she was 9lb8oz!!) in the perinium bu that was sorted and is fine. How ever i either had a undetected tear in my minor labia or a small graze that slowly tore more. I was in more pain that i can ever describe, and when i passed sevearl blood clots the size of oranges it felt like i was tearing again. It was picked up for about 6 weeks. now it has shunk and basically is just a skin tag and my hubby very politely said it looks like someone has taken a bite out of a bacon sarnie LOL!!! Mine too also itches sometimes, glad it's not just me!! Will hopefully have it removed at some point.

wow! maybe we should have our own club! went to see the nurse about mine as was convinced it was some kind of fatal disease, assumed "the position" to let her have a look...

"och that's perfectly normal lassie, i've seen much worse things than that!"

i skipped out of the surgery, sun shining, birds singing and flowers blooming in my wake!

No-one tells you you will never the same again so they!

I have been expecting these bits of skin to disappear for the last three years! Now I suppose I'd better just forget them. I never tore during childbirth but did graze 'upwards'. It's not there though so must just be all the pressure from delivery I would think.

My friend once described hers as looking like 'a torn out fireplace!!'.

Am relieved to find this thread - was beginning to worry if all is normal "down there"... Had huge dd 11 mths ago needing ventouse and had a 2nd degree tear. The Dr said it had healed ok at 8 wk check although there was (and still is) a small amount of discomfort (a slight stretching pain) at the beginning of intercourse but fine during and after. I felt pretty fine until I actually looked at that area - the skin looks tight at one side of the scar (still very visible), there are extra little skin tagg/flaps and what I would describe as a bulge just inside the vagina on the rear wall (easily pushed out of the way). Am thinking about ttc no 2 and worried about further damage - should I see GP? I don't want to make a fuss if this is all perfectly normal - I've not had any problems otherwise.

I have skin tags too -they don't go away naturally.

I'm SO glad I found this thread. I was looking at my vulva last night after noticing a little discomfort and noticed these little "tag-like" entities...I'm hoping it has something to do with my son being so large when he was born (9 lbs. 15.4 oz) and having such a looong labor (26 hours). We ended up having a vacuum-assisted delivery as a last resort, avoiding an emergency cesarean. HOWEVER, I must note that my son is now 7 months old and it seems I STILL haven't completely healed - I had "stitches in the triple digits" my SO tells me, and a second degree perineal tear.

I have made an appointment at our local health dept. to get my "nether regions" checked out, just because it looking like it does kind of freaks me out!

bumbly - I also had hard lumpy scar tissue. Is it very tender? Do you have any pain? Mine was very sore and painful and I had cortisone injections to soften it. They were very unpleasant at the time, but worked very well and the area feels so much better. According to my gynae they have a 50% success rate, so worth a go in my experience.
