Are these any good? Or would I wish I had waited for my fatty?

Thank you ladies xx

Haven't tried those, looks comfy! I do know that Therm-A-Rest ones are really good.

I saw a Thermarest Basecamp in a camping shop the other day, for 80 quid. It was HUGE, really wide and so comfy looking. I almost wavered after having bought a reg airic a few days before.
Thermarests are a bit pricy though. Do you need it soon or can you wait? Never tried a Gelert but they are fairly cheep and cheerful as a brand, the quality is okay but won't be as high as other options.

I am SO tempted by one of these www.ryedalerambler.com/product/2886/Thermarest_Dreamtime_L, but feel like I have to get one for dd too (instead of an inferior one), which puts it way out of the price range. Are the base camps comfy? Have seen them for £50 so am v v tempted!

I didn't lie on it, but it was about twice as thick as my reg airic which is already v comfy. Also very wide, that was what really tempted me. Soooo snuggly looking.
Why not pop into a camping/outdoors shop for some window shopping?

we have basecamps- they are the best thing we have ever bought- turn a 2 week camping holiday into a pleasnat restful experience. I have had back problems and they are very good. Very comfy and very warm, if you've seen them for 50 quid thats a great price

These look like a good price.

I always had a thermarest when I did my hiking...I loved it. I had one of the short ones though, but it still did a great job.

I am after a little more comfort these days.

lidls have got there back again soon, details here
www.lidl.co.uk/uk/home.nsf/pages/c.o.20090518.p.Self_Inflating_Air_Mattress.ar1

They have gone up alot since last year when we got ours, they were £15.99 then. Must have realised they were a mega bargain by the selling out in 5 seconds clue!

I presume your mattress is good then dobby...is it worth 30 pounds?

God sorry Mung only just seen this. Yep they are fine, I just bung em in the bed pod whilst i set up rest of camp (DH dosent do camping so i am a single mum camper )then usually put a few puffs in before sealing the valve up. Its not as fat as the fat arics, but if you compare the prices of other 5cm thick ones its still a bargain even though they have put the prices up.

They do sell out very fast though so be prepared to get to a lidl at opening time or soon after

They have the 5cm self inflating mattresses in Costco Reading at the moment for £14.99 plus vat so £17 ish. Didn't see the brand but they were comfy.
