Infant feeding

breast is best?

I personally think it is...but I am aware that many female mothers disagree and prefer to feed their babies bottle milk...I wouldn't do it...however if for some reason you physically are unable to produce enough breast milk for you baby then and only then would I consider or use bottle milk.
I just don't think people can better breast milk...whether you believe we were created or evolved the fact is breast milk has been proven to be best for babies because it has in it exactly all that a babe needs to help it grow strong and develop.
if we evolved as we are taught in schools, how could chance manage to make female produce exactly what babies need to help them grow?
it just does not make sense...common sense tells me that the one who created us put breasts on the female chest for the purpose of feeding your babies.
it just annoys me so much when I see an advert on TV trying to persuade mothers with babies to feed them formula milk...it would be better to promote breast feeding rather than trying to make mothers use bottle milk.
anyway what are your Thoughts?
do you think breast milk is best?

Thanks.

I'm sitting on hands Grin having got sucked in to the "other" thread but can I just say "if we evolved", seriously?

Er..thanks for clearing all that up then.

I stand corrected, OP isn't new. She can also be found asking for opinions on evil smoking mothers on the health board.

I'm staying out of the other thread, looks nasty. Maybe it's the weather.

My Thoughts are -

  1. you need to read a basic text or two on how evolution actually works

  2. more and better support for those who want to BF, from those who know what they're talking about, would be the best way to increase BF rates

  3. Hmm

I'd like to hear the opinion of a non-female mother!

Wow..intense!

End of the day its the mothers choice and just because we were made with boobs primarily for feeding, some women choose not to and that's no one's business but theirs!

Yes But don't you consider what is in the best interests of your baby rather than your right to choose whether to use breast or bottle milk?

Do you actually have children? Any actual experience of what it's like trying to establish breast feeding?

'it just annoys me so much when I see an advert on TV trying to persuade mothers with babies to feed them formula milk...it would be better to promote breast feeding rather than trying to make mothers use bottle milk.'

Why on earth would formula companies spend time promoting breast milk rather than formula?

again
why do you choose to be sarcastic?
is it too much to just answer the question without your sarky remarks?

I'm glad that many male mothers choose to breastfeed their babies - we should have more of them instead of those rubbish female mother types who are too lazy to do stuff properly

smiling,
slow down...I didn't suggest that formula companies should promote breast feeding...why indeed would a formula company do that?
I Just think Breast feeding should be promoted more than formula milk...simply cause breast milk is best and its a fact...but I accept that not all mothers agree.
I can see I hit a raw nerve with this topic but hey its good to discuss these things...

Yes breast is best.

"many mothers" do not disagree.

"many mothers" do not breast feed for a wide variety of reasons.

ok ok I know when I'm beat...I just wanted to know your opinion on whether you think breast feeding is best or not?
I appreciate your answers on the questions but the sarky remarks...

I don't think you have "hit a raw nerve". If that is the result you were looking for try parent and baby parking, or grapes in supermarkets.

On the face of your OP there isn't much to discuss. Only an idiot would disagree that all things being equal breast is not best.

However such simple statements do not take into account the myriad reason why some woman do not BF.

If you want an interesting discussion how about lack of funding for promoting BFing or weight gain charts based on FF babies....nope didn't think so just wanted a fight?

thank you queen...at last a straight forward answer!
btw would you care to share some of the reasons why some mothers choose not to breastfeed?
I personally think bf is best but the remarks from some of the women here is making me feel as if I'm wrong to think so...

You didn't hit a nerve. After 8 weeks of bleeding, cracked nipples I finally managed it & I'm still feeding my 6 month old now. I could easily have given up in those 8 weeks but according to you that wouldn't have been a good enough reason.

I fail to see what you're trying to achieve here, are you doing something to try to improve BF rates?

I don't think you'll find many people who would argue that breast isn't best.

Your OP is very ill-judged. If there is the slightest chance that you are asking a genuine question then I suggest it might be better to start again.
