Names with positive meanings

Any suggestions for girls' or boys' names with very positive meanings? I have one child with a name that means something very positive, and I'd love to find another - things like happiness (Felix, Felicity, Joy), etc. Thank you!

Fairly obvious names I'd think. Grace, Hope, Faith, Joyce. With boys could go for biblical, Peter, Gabriel, Joesph, John.

Abigail- father's joy

BitOfFun · 27/08/2015 03:04

Helen- light

Asher - happy/blessed
Benedict - blessed

Alaia - joyful
Chara - happiness
Kalea - joy

NB: Kalea shouldn't be confused as being some creative spelling of Kayleigh or Callie, it's a Hawaiian name.

Alexander: defender of men

Thank you! I'd prefer to avoid the ones which are actual words in English - so not Grace, Hope, etc. Benedict is a lovely name but "blessed" is a bit religious in meaning. Chara is pretty. Any more?

Zoe - life
Charis - grace

Amanda, Miranda (roughly: lovable and marvellous)
Phoebe, Clara (light/clear/shining)

Matthew, Theodore and Jonathan: all mean 'gift of God' and were a sibset I used to know.

Naomi - Hebrew name meaning pleasant, delightful, beautiful.

If it's positive names you're after, steer clear of:

Persephone = 'bringing death'

Farah = joy
Kerensa = love
Vivienne = alive
Lucy = light
Roxana = bright/dawn
Serena = clear, tranquil
Adelaide = noble
Irene = peace
Winifred = fair peace
Anna/Anne/Hannah = grace
Sophia/Sophie = wisdom
Nicola/Nicole = = victory of the people

Albert = noble and bright
Cuthbert = famous and bright
Robert = bright fame
Clement = merciful
Kevin = kind, gentle, handsome
Frederick = peaceful ruler
Richard = brave power
Roderick = famous power
Bernard = brave bear
Conrad = brave counsel
Leonard = brave lion
Wilfred = desiring peace
Nicholas = victory of the people

I really like Joy, although realise that is an 'actual word' name.

Are you OK to consider Welsh/Scottish/Irish names? e.g. Carys = love, Niamh = bright
