It's such a comfy hairstyle in hot weather. But are people going to think I am some sort of wierd girly twat who believes in fairies and has soft toys all over her bed?

harleyd Sun 31-May-09 21:49:06

i like bunches
so long as they arent like well high up on your head grin

Yes. And yes.

<you did ask>

What's wrong with a single ponytail?

yanbu. i have to have my hair in low bunches when i do yoga or else i can't lie down properly.

ninah Sun 31-May-09 21:52:15

I know someone who wears plaits, she looks like Meryl Streep in that abba musical

ScummyMummy Sun 31-May-09 21:52:31

Um, really sorry, SGB, but have to say I'm anti bunches in the over 10s. I think it looks like you want to be a little girl and aren't comfortable in your adult woman skin. It's prejudicial and wrong of me though and you should probably ignore scunners like me and go with what you like.

snigger Sun 31-May-09 21:52:42

NOOOOO!!!

No bunches.

No Alice bands.

No braids.

If you're that hot, shave it.

HairyMuff Sun 31-May-09 21:53:48

You will either look like a hippy or someone who wants to be 8 again.

Its a crap look in anyone over 10 I reckin.

inthemistsoftime Sun 31-May-09 21:54:00

hey I am 43 and quite often wear plaits blush they take years of me.

itm waits to be flamed for being mutton dressed as lamb!!

Ewe Sun 31-May-09 21:54:53

I wear my hair in bunches from time to time. Plait bunches to boot!
I am in my early twenties though and don't wear them out - only at home or popping to the shops.

If you do it because you like it then YANBU but stop pretending it's the only hairstyle you can wear to keep cool. grin

SolidGoldBrass Sun 31-May-09 21:54:55

Right, am going to go to the Goth shop and buy some hair ribbons with skulls on and put my hair in bunches ALL THE TIME just to annoy the fuck out of boden-wearers and people who believe all that crap about 'dressing your age'.... grin

pavlovthecat Sun 31-May-09 21:55:03

No you are not being unreasonable.

If you don't mind people laughing at you.

grin

SolidGoldBrass Sun 31-May-09 21:56:29

Ewe, bunches are comfier (less scalp tension or something) than high ponytails or 'up-dos'. And I don't want to shave my head again cos then I will get it sunburned.

harleyd Sun 31-May-09 21:58:32

i do plaits lots
i like them
so ner
<sticks tongue out>

snigger Sun 31-May-09 21:58:49

<<shave it, wear a hat>>

ninah Sun 31-May-09 22:01:44

cool itm

Ewe Sun 31-May-09 22:01:55

What about a casual low pony? Or I often just loosely bung it all up in a messy bun - that is quite comfy (unless you're lying on your back!).

If you're happy with it then fuck it, you don't strike me as the type to worry too much about what other people think!

nevergoogledragonbutter Sun 31-May-09 22:02:56

i like them.
no high ones like nina and her neurons, but low ones if you've got long hair are fine.
not short shaving brush ones either though.

i prefer a low side ponytail though.

PaulaYatesBiggestFan Sun 31-May-09 22:04:09

do it sgb

my attitude is - ten years from now i will think ' bollocks i was young then' who gives one? your life - i love bunches - and plaits and am 41

cornsilk Sun 31-May-09 22:04:32

Sarah Jane wears bunches. She looks like a weird girly twat. If that's your thing, fine.

noddyholder Sun 31-May-09 22:05:18

Low plaits and bunches ok if you look ok.I wear them from time to time and I;m old but i like them but only when i'm really dressed down no make up etc otherwise they look ridiculous

ScummyMummy Sun 31-May-09 22:05:57

Just to clarify, bunches in your forties are no more ridiculous than in 30s, 20s or later teens, imo. I just think of them as little kid hairstylee so feel that donning them past adulthood is a bit akin to wearing a woman wearing a romper suit or startrite style mary janes or a smocked dress...

Just look very silly on anyone over 20
