I have to collect a prescription from Superdrug today.
My lipstick has ran out (I know first world problems )
Would I be unreasonable to grab one whilst in Superdrug collecting prescription.
I don't want anyone to think I'm not taking this lockdown seriously and being a idiot buying lipstick when it's not essential.
I have anxiety so worry about stupid things.
What would you do ?

As you are there anyway for your prescription then you aren't entering the shop or making the journey just for the lipstick, I would have thought it was okay. If you weren't collecting your script then I would say no.

If you are in there anyway I don’t see an issue. Making a separate trip would be unnecessary but your not doing rhat

Well I wouldn't since the aim is to be there as briefly as possible - for your good and for the good of the staff and other customers. But loads of people will undoubtedly come on and say "of course you can" Hmm

Buy the lipstick, you are entering the shop anyway.

Soap/shampoo etc is essential, if it makes you feel better, buy something essential alongside it.

If it's there on display then you are ok to buy it.

I'd buy it.

I picked up some hair dye and make up last time I was in Boots.

People may disagree, but then what if you pick up chocolate with your food shop? Or indeed coffee or tea- black pepper or chilli flakes? None are "essential".

@HasaDigaEebowai the pharmacists will have to do the dispensing checks anyway so she might as well use that time to grab a lipstick from the shop that she's already in. She could also grab it on her way up to the pharmacy and pay there.

Is she grabbing it though or is she looking and choosing.

It's fine if you are going there anyway.

If possible pay for the lipstick at the same counter you get your prescription from rather than make it a separate transaction.

It's only unacceptable if you were making the journey specifically for the lipstick or other non-essentials.

Didn't know Superdrug did prescriptions?

I bought some hair dye last week whilst collecting my prescription from Boots. I checked with the cashier that it was okay first.

Didn't know Superdrug did prescriptions?

Some have pharmacies in them.

Buy the lipstick. You're there anyway, for an essential purpose, so I doubt anyone would begrudge you the lipstick.

But if you were to go to Superdrug purely for the lipstick, you'd be an idiot.

@HasaDigaEebowai she literally says the one she uses has run out and she wants to replace it. Not 'I fancy a mooch at the Maybelline display". If shes anything like me she'll know exactly where it is and will be able to grab it practically without stopping.

In Boots they are blocked off with black plastic.

Yes it's fine OP, presumably you'll have to wait for the prescription anyway.

However, Boots won't let you buy a lipstick, Superdrug might be the same.

Depends on what they will allow. My local Boots are doing prescriptions and medicines only. Can't buy anything else. Superdrug may be the same.

The make up aisle in my local Superdrug is closed. Not sure if this is a nationwide thing though?

If you are there anyway I don't see the problem if you went out just to get the lipstick that would be very unreasonable. I have asked DH to pick toiletries up for me when he has done our food shopping but I wouldn't go out just for that.

I don’t know about Superdrug but boots won’t let you buy any stuff not even shampoo. Shock

Agree with pp - the make up aisle may well be closed.
It’s non essential and don’t suppose they will have staff there to fill up stocks.

Picking something else up in the course of essential business, fine.

Special trip for non essential business, not fine.

While doing the weekly food shop I did a grab for some shorts for DS1 who is having a growth spurt, and finding his existing stock getting obscenely tight. Literally a grab. Soft, ✅ Adjustable waist ✅ next size up ✅ job done. The checkout guy sent me to do it when I asked if he knew where I could get some as that area was barriered off.
