....for eating my dinner! (Leon chicken satay box, not very stinky). She keeps side-eyeing me every time I take a mouthful. Am also a tweny by it tipsy after post off-site drinks. It's been a looooong day ( up v early for train to London then full day of meetings).
She's going to be even more enraged when I get the mince pie dessert out in a minute! Grin

Maybe she is allergic to peanuts. (I am and would be side eying you out of anxiety)

Sounds delish. She's probably just envious as am I

Good choice from Leon

Grin at OP casually enjoying a two course meal on the train.

@DontTouchTheMoustache
Wouldn’t you say something or move if it was that serious?

I always assume that most upholstery on planes/trains etc must be impregnated with years of peanut antigen!

I used to go by train to visit my parents. I found a really good Indian take away near Preston Station so I used to buy a meal when changing trains there. I got loads of dirty looks from others as I enjoyed my curry.
I always take wine in a chillies bottle these days, I can drink it and no-one know what I'm drinking

I’m just going to be honest. She can probably smell a mixture of bad breath/alcohol breath sort of mixed with the scent of the food ie think how gross coffee breath is vs the scent of coffee itself, it’s probably so unpleasant for her. Smells on trains carry differently than elsewhere so it’s more intense? Eg I never really notice the scent of McDonald’s but can certainly smell it on a train.

Oh god I can cope with people eating near me - especially when I’m travelling as the smell knocks me sick.

Tbh I wouldn't eat a meal on a train, especially not sitting next to a stranger. But that's just me. Could be any reason really: your food smells, shes allergic, you chew loudly, you're interrupting her doing something with constant movements/sounds of eating, shes hungry and just eyeing up your food etc.

Haha maybe she is pregnant? I was so grumpy when pregnant if someone sat next to me on the bus I'd huff and move to another seat! I'm usually the kindest biggest (pushover) but not when pregnant. I turned evil 🤣

Also, bear in mind I won't be home til at least 10pm, so should I just starve in the meantime?! Is that what you want for me?!!

I wouldn't be happy if a drunk person sat next to me with hot smelly food.

What you are doing is pretty anti-social.

Trains in the evenings in December are chock a block full of half pissed people eating. I'd really not be judging you for that.

Drunk people eating smelly food on public transport are annoying.

Report
Lockheart · 10/12/2019 20:13

It is pretty anti social to eat entire meals on a train.

When the offender is drunk, even more so.

Report
chocolatesaltyballs22 · 10/12/2019 20:15

I'm not drunk - I've had two drinks. And my dinner does not smell. There's someone across the aisle loudly crunching crisps - now they should be shot!
