Isn't it contagious like that??
I thought they had to be dried out.
What about people with compromised immune systems or very small babies.
She was with a friend buying sweets, not urgent!! Wtf!!
It is contagious like that isn't it?

That’s really selfish. Yes they should all be dried up to go out. Possibly not if you’re in a seriously isolated area like the woods but otherwise that’s really awful.

He was in Tesco and there was another family who had a very ill old lady with them. What if she got ill?
Fuck sake!!

Is it going to be on my clothes? I don't want to pass it on. She parked him beside me to get sweets then walked off???

The fact that you are doubting yourself illustrates that not everyone is aware of incubation periods, methods of transmission etc.

If the child had chickenpox, and was contagious, the adult with them was more likely to be unaware than out to maliciously infect as many people as possible.

People cannot stay in for over 7 days isolated. She may have been getting sweets to attend a chicken pox party. Common colds can be fatal for some, should they also stay in?
Can’t see the issue and I’m not even ammune to chicken pox (I was tested whilst pregnant due to an outbreak)

Listen I think you're a fool if you don't think chicken pox are not contagious if they haven't dried

And secondly I don't give a shit if they were going to a party that is their perogative and people choose to go but people at Tesco don't choose to be exposed!

And your self righteous indignation, and outraged punctuation, serve what purpose now?

YANBU- my sister once had a go at someone who was out in Sainsbury’s with their child who had chicken pox and what was seemingly the kids grandmother- so someone could have stayed at home with the kid. People are ignorant, what if a pregnant woman who hadn’t had chicken pox was near by.

Haha, don’t ask AIBU if you are unreasonable with people’s comments and replies.

There are probably for more children out there with chicken pox that your not aware of. I took my “contagious” son to sainsburys and the doctors to pick his prescription up. (Not for chicken pox)
I’m not sorry that my son didn’t suffer all day because Dad was at work

Yes they can. It’s not hard.

My dd is currently covered with a heat rash that looks just like chickenpox at first glance. It isn't as she's had it before and it's been confirmed by a doctor.

What the hell is a chicken pox party?

YANBU OP, I would have been mightily pissed off as I have a compromised immune system.

You can have chicken pox spots for up to 2 weeks but no longer be contagious after 5 days- assuming she has spots does not mean it’s contagious

Report
reddressblueshoes · 04/07/2018 15:24

If they're fresh spots, they're contagious, and I think I would have said something.

I got chicken pox as an adult and it was hell, and I had no compromised immunity. I actually had to move back in with family to care for me, and partly so I could isolate myself - it was that or a week of getting takeaway drivers to drop things outside my door! I'm currently pregnant and v glad I've now had them, but I know someone who is deaf due to their mother having chicken pox in pregnancy. People should really know better.

A mum at school did something similar when my DCs were at primary. There was a class cinema party, followed by Pizza Hut and the mum didn't want her DD to miss out, despite him breaking out in pox that morning.
When it was suggested that she should have kept him at home, she replied that she was a nurse and felt it her " civic duty" to share the pox. 😒

This is why I got my kid vaccinated. Too many inconsiderate arseholes about.

Chicken pox party - where a parent of a contagious child with CP invites other parents to bring their children round who haven't had CP so they all catch it and get done with CP at the same time e.g. over the long school summer holiday.

Used to be more common in the 1970s / 1980s.

Chicken pox party? Share the pox?
Seriously, if we are really like 1 minute close to extinction as species, that's a real reason for a party. How come we've come this far with this degree of stupidity....

What about single mothers? My sister had chicken pox as a child and my mum had no choice but to take her out with her as father wasn’t involved, no family nearby and friends weren’t keen on babysitting.
