nursery sending back clothes like this?

My daughter goes to nursery shes just turned one so needs feeding still unless it's finger food.

She always comes back with her clothes in a bag absolutely rotten now am all for kids getting messy and having fun. Although this is food mess were she should have had a bib on, its always the same and always something near impossible to get out! Thank god for vanish gold!

Now at almost £40 a day I shouldn't have to provide a bib surely they have never mentioned bringing one?

I have been sending her in in and 2nd hand stuff but even after one wear most of the time its wrecked its just so wasteful to bin clothes shes not had much wear out off.

This was todays clothes....how an earth has she got orange food stains on her knees! The paint I don't mind that's normal nursery mess but the food stains are starting to annoy me?

Should I bring it up next session? Is this normal? My son came home immaculate at this age but it was a different nursery.

At one they're probably trying to encourage independence and self feeding. Just send a bib and ask them to put it on at lunch time.

It's very normal. Wash and put them out in the sunshine - the sun will get rid of the stains.

Do you send her with bibs?

Pretty normal in my experience. I just sent mine in their old scruffy clothes rather than anything nice.

Wait till they get to school in their uniform and are let loose with the whiteboard markers...

Do you mean you are throwing away clothes because they've got food on? And if you're not sending bibs then I can see why they are not using them.

No never send bibs I just assume they would put the big sleevy type ones on think will get her one to keep in her bag. They are currently sitting in a sink full of vanish.

They look pretty clean to me in comparison with my DD after her nursery days. Wash it and keep it as nursery only clothes, no-one will give two hoots if she starts the day a bit orange.

Honestly, keep the stained clothes for preschool - I can't imagine binning clothes because they're a bit stained Hmm

They probably won’t use a bib if you send one, but that should come out. I agree they just get sent back wearing the stained clothes, there is no point trying to make them look nice at that age

I was throwing stuff on I couldn't get stains out of yes some of it even vanish didnt work although all this sunshine is now helping.

I'm genuinely not seeing the issue.
Just ask about bibs, and say you can provide one if necessary? My daughter is 14 months and loves to rip her bibs off - even the ones with sleeves. Maybe she is doing this?
The nursery will be encouraging her to use cutlery or her hands to feed herself.
Bio detergent will get food out.

Send your DD in less precious clothes?

Ehmmm, surely if you want bibs used you need to send them?
The differences between old nursery and new nursery it's also important to remember that it's a different child in question
Have you had a discussion with nursery staff about how feeding is going with your child, is she refusing food pushing it away etc?

Just realised I came across a bit judge and stuck up.
Sorry, didn't mean to.
Was meant in a friendly way

Christ that's nothing. You should see DS after they've had tomato soup at nursery.

Darker clothes show stains less, just have some second hand things that you keep just for nursery.

YABU. Send her to nursery in clothes that can get stained, or are already stained. If you want her to wear a bib, then provide bibs and ask them to use them.

I really don't get why you would bin clothes after one wear? If they get stained, then that is what she wears to nursery again, and keep her other clothes nice.

Nurseries/preschool usually ask parents not to send them in nice clothes for this very reason.

Wait until she is at school properly and comes home covered in grass, mud, or like today, a white polo shirt covered in charcoal!

I have no issue sending bibs in she does keep them on no problem but surely a nursery put bibs on babies at feeding times.

YABU just put her back in the stained clothes for nursery, why throw them away? They don’t have time to hand feed every child and at 1 they will be encouraging her to self feed anyway.

I wouldn't send my dc anywhere in stained clothes so I don't think you're unusual in that respect op although mn will tell you otherwise.

funny enough I was thinking the other day about when the pair of them go to school how an earth am going to keep polos clean Grin

That would come out easily without any need to vanish! And if she has a slight stain It’s really not the end of the world just for Nursery. Could send her to Nursery in a bib?

At 1 they will be encouraging self feeding with a spoon, it doesn't take long to learn, and if you do it at home too she will crack it in no time Smile

I just keep a section of her drawers for nursery clothes - anything with stains goes there (I don’t even try that hard to get them out) and I only put her in these clothes for nursery. I’d send a bib (I know my nursery provide bibs and aprons for painting but dd still ends up covered) if you want to try and minimise it but it’s part of toddler life really and I wouldn’t worry - just never send her in best!

Surely your DD is allowed to explore food with her hands? I'd be annoyed if my son was spoon fed constantly tbh. Why not use a vest or sth under her t shirt and ask the staff if they would mind taking her t shirt off for meals and using a bib? My son is 14 months and I don't have enough hours in the day to worry about whether or not his clothes are still a bit stained after a wash. Unless it really looks gross I can't see a problem with him wearing them again... He doesn't care lol
