Taking the tree down!

Is it wrong to consider taking the tree down tomorrow? When is everyone else doing it?? I think last year I did it just after Boxing Day. As the kids get older the presents seem to get bigger and I end up having to rearrange the whole room. Need that tree gone. Does that make me a grinch?

Not wrong at all. I am considering doing the same. It's been up a week, and the lights have packed up already, plus the cat keeps leaping into it.

Mines coming down tomorrow. My Dc went to their nanny’s today at 10 and I was ready to take it down then but my mum wanted to see it up when she came in then I went to hers for Xmas dinner. I’m too tired and full to do it now. First thing in the morning it’s going.

This made me laugh! Ideally I'd take the tree down and put all the decorations away on the 27th. It'll probably be 28th this year (if DH lets me). Boxing Day seems a bit early!

No, I'm with you. I think ours will come down on 27th (but only as we're out all day tomorrow). I love it in the run up to Christmas but then find it the most depressing thing to look at afterwards. Always try to do a good sort and clean before the new year.

Ours comes down tommorow.
Our front room is small and we have to move furniture to fit a tree in so it goes away asap

It's up to you, but mine only got decorated on Friday, so it's staying up until after New Year.

Ours always comes down Boxing Day or the day after, I’ve had enough of it by then and want my living room back!

Ours comes down on 12th night. It only went up a couple of days ago.

27th here as well. I just don't like the look of of a tree with no presents at all.

I will want to but oh well want to keep it up until after the tree collections have quit!

27th here too! But it does go up the first weekend in December. We also need space again!

Well we put it up at the very end of November as DS1 was asking for it every day! And he has a few big items like a toy kitchen, an annoying paw patrol tower and keyboard. And I have to shuffle it all around for the tree. I need that space back. I long for that space back Blush sod it it's coming down tomorrow night.

Genuinely didn't know so many people didn't do the twelfth night thing. It does explain why people can bear putting up their trees on 1 December, though.

I would take it down tomorrow but DH doesn't get much time off and likes the time, up till New Year's Day, to be Christmas. That's fair enough. I'll be glad to see the back of it though.

Oh no, you bunch of grinches, you can’t take your tree down while it’s still Christmas! You may as well put the Easter eggs out now then while you’re at it.

I blame the shops for this wanting to move onto the next thing too soon. A lot of people put their tree up far too early when the shops put theirs up in November, it’s no wonder they’re sick of it by Boxing Day.

We save some presents to open throughout the week. The tree comes down the first morning of school or 12th night whichever is first.

It's predicted storms tomorrow so leftover Christmas dinner and more presents!

Ummmmgogo · 25/12/2017 19:40

xmas is finished now so take the tree down if it's annoying you. keeping the decorations up for 12 days after Christmas seems excessive to me, but I'm not religious.

27th or the 28th.
