Don't let the bastards get you down.

Not sure of the Latin, it's quoted in Alias Grace.

I love that. Here are two of my favourites

"Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgement that something else is more important than fear" - Ambrose Redmoon

"You've got a lot of choices. If getting out of bed in the morning is a chore and you're not smiling on a regular basis, try another choice" - Steven D Woodhull

If you're going through hell, keep going. - Winston Churchill (allegedly)

That's a great quote, ILook!

I like:

Coping, through frightened, is true courage (Dr Claire Weekes)

To make others less happy is a crime (Roger Ebert)

I'm stubborn as those garbage bags that time cannot decay, I'm junk but I'm still holding up this little wild bouquet (Leonard Cohen)

Sorry, that should read 'though frightened,' not 'through.'

"Judge a man not by how he treats his friends, but by how he treats his enemies"

No idea who said it, saw it quoted somewhere and it made me go hmmm.

Every year, everything I have ever learned in my lifetime,
leads back to this: the fires and the black river of loss
whose other side is salvation,
whose meaning none of us will ever know.
To live in this world you must be able to do three things:
to love what is mortal
:to hold it against your bones knowing your own life depends on it;
and when the time comes to let it go,
to let it go.

In Blackwater Woods by Mary Oliver.

I love this poem, this is the last few verses and mean a lot to me

'A good laugh and a long sleep are the two best cures for anything'

An Irish proverb apparently! I've found it to be very true Grin

No idea who said it it's from a criminal minds episode -

'There is a sacredness in tears. They are not a mark of weakness but of power. They are the messengers of overwhelming grief and unspeakable love'.

Also -

'A ship in harbour is safe, but that is not what ships are for'

Don't cry because it is over. Smile because it happened. Dr Seuss

This too will pass.

I found this one last week on a thread about the sad loss of Zombie, it is my new favourite. I don't know whose quote it is, or who posted it, but I intend to live my life by it now ----

I hope to arrive late for my death, in love and a little bit drunk. It just sums up everything for me.
