AIBU?

To not shower every day

To make it clear, I do have a wash every day but I don't see the need to actually shower or bathe every single morning. was talking to people at work about it, most of the women seemed to agree with me whilst the men thought it was weird that we didn't have a whose presence every single morning. Aibu to be washed but not showered every day?

It's not Unreasonable but I would think it is Unusual

I dont but DH does. Could it be hangover from smelly teenage boy days and being made to by parents?

I don't.

We don't have a shower and a bath for everyone each morning would take too long.

Of course YANBU, daily batheing is a pretty new phenomenon. Overwashing isn't always good for your skin. If you have a sedentary occupation and don't get dirty or sweaty, its fine. Blokes probably do need to wash more often than women, they tend to be sweatier.

I shower daily and would find washing myself daily out with a shower would take longer and potentially not be as effective

I have a shower every morning, if I'm not washing my hair, it takes 3-4mins max. I find having a top to toe wash at the sink takes longer and is much more of a faff.

Loads of people don't shower every day. I think perhaps men are more inclined to shower daily because men (generally) sweat more and have stronger body odour, perhaps? My other half showers every morning but says he does it because it's the most convenient way to wash - he does say that if he had long hair that needing styling/drying he would be less inclined to step under a shower so often, though.

My mum has been told by more than one dermatology consultant that showering or bathing daily is not necessary at all and can be bad for certain skin types.

When I was a child (40 years ago) we used to bath every Sunday night. So did everyone else.
I expect the cigarette smoke smell used to mask the BO

I shower every day as it seems more comfortable than having a sink wash and I have long hair which is greasy and gets washed daily. My shower takes 10-15 minutes and drying my hair takes 10 minutes. Mind you my hairdos poker traitor so I just set it and brush it then go.

I sometimes go a day without washing at all.

I don't sweat much unless I've been really active, so if I'm not going to work or going out far I might skip a day.

I also sometimes just have a wash in the sink, just my armpits and down below. I hate showers so find a quick wash like that easier if I just need a quick freshen up.

Dh has a 10 min shower every morning whilst I usually have one that lasts under a minute - I just turn round so I get wet, put on shower cream, and turn round so it washes off. I usually wash my hair in the evening and even then it is probably once every three days.

I don't shower every day - it is probably more often than every other day though. Maybe 4/5 times a week. DH sometimes goes a day without showering but I think he does need to shower every day really...

I shower every morning, unless I know I'm going out later in the day (dinner in the evening perhaps), then I'll get ready before that- early afternoon.
I wash my hair every 3 days.

I think women tend to have skip a shower day more than men because drying and straightening your hair is such a faff (and I know you can use shower caps but personally I find my hair gets damp anyway.)

I shower most days. I might skip the odd one.

I think it's personal choice but me personally, if I don't shower morning and night I don't smell or feel very clean.

Generally I shower after exercise. I exercise 5 days a week normally. If I don't exercise on two consecutive days - which is rare - then I will have a shower.

Glad to know I'm not the only one! Think it foes have to do with the fact I often don't want yo wash my hair - only wash it 2/3 times a week. Also I'm not a very smelly person, obviously after excercise I have a shower more or less straight away when I get home because I'm all sweaty but the rest of the time I do a desk job and don't tend to over exert myself so no sweating etc. Agree that men tend to need to shower more, plus should be quicker for them- not the case with my dp but theoretically!!

Can someone explain what a wash is that isn't a shower/bath?

I shower daily and can't start my day without one. If I'm having a pyjama day I'll shower before bed. My kids and DH also shower daily. It's the way we were brought up and so, by default, the way we're bringing up our kids.

I shower every morning and in the summer every evening.

I commute by tube everyday so not bathing wouldn't be great..

Yeah, I don't shower every day either. I don't miss many days but I don't find it necessary every day and our shower is shit and temperamental - perhaps when we replace it I'll be more inclined.

I just run a sink of warm water and wash with that (with soap obviously) focusing on the main areas. I don't think my arms, legs and torso get so dirty in 24 hours that they need constant cleaning but I could be wrong haha

I was my bum length hair once a week - it's still thick and non-greasy and smells nice. I have excema on my back so during a flare up will just have a wash (not a shower). If you do a wash properly there's no difference in cleanliness.
