Fucking, bastarding jobsworth [word removed by MNHQ] at ASDA pharmacy refused to sell me a large (6 treatment) bottle of nit treatment, but I could buy three smaller (2 treatment) bottles.

Just because they are twatfaced "computer-says-no", no common sense, jobsworth twonks.

DS6 scratchy head last night. I suspected bedtime stalling tactics said I'd check properly the following day. DS10 scrubbing his head with brush this morning - asked what's wrong he said his hair itches. DD11 then pipes up that her hair has been itching too.

Three school aged children plus 1 baby means not loads of time in the morning. Not time to go through hair with a fine toothed comb (literally). Quick flick thro their hair to check they are not riddled and reassuring them it is no reason to stay off school.

I said I'd get treatment today, check with a nit comb afterschool and treat then if needed. But oh no. I cannot buy nit treatment without first confirming I had actually physically seen a headlice that day.

I should have just fucking lied to the sourfaced jobsworth behind the counter.

Actually the twats are those who use the nit treatment stuff as a preventative and encourage resistance to the active ingredients. If it wasn't for these twats then sensible but busy Mums like me could but big-family-sized nit treatment and have it in the cupboard ready for when it is needed. And be trusted to only use it when it is needed.

Yes there are some stupid rules but they are doing what they've been asked to do and if that means having to sell the smaller bottles then so be it.

Yes. In fact the school make a really big deal that head lice is not a reason to be absent from school. They they would not authorise an absence for this. Tied in with their drive to improve attendance I would imagine.

I used to love customers like you calling me a jobsworth at my old job for not bending a rule.
You have no idea what rules they have, or whether breaking this 'silly' rule may lead them to have a disciplinary. We often faced disciplinary actions for not following the rules in the shop i worked in.

Actually it is a reason for them to stay of school. You need to treat them BEFORE you send them to school. Sorry having 4 kids and being busy is not an excuse.Nits are gross and spread like wildfire. You need to check them, get your nit stuff, and take an extra two hours off work if needs be and TREAT THEM.

And I don't know ANYONE who uses nit treatment as preventative. Only as a followup. And if you'd sent your kids to school knowing they had nits and I'd found out I'd be fucking swearing at you!

If you have a problem you need to ask to speak to the manager or contact head office. It isn't the fault of the person behind the till and they could get into all sorts trouble for overriding store policy.

You should have dealt with this via conditioner and nit comb last night when you first saw the evidence of scratching; and/or done so this morning, even if it made the DCs late for school. That's what I had to do when mine were younger.

It's a pain in the ass but it's really not on to send them to school with headlice.

Yes jobs worthy annoy us all. Obstructful and unhelpful, but we must remember. As frustrating as it is. I suppose they're only doing what they are told to do. Also you can't make assumptions that she has no kids. That could well be the reason she's doing things strictly by the book as she has kids to feed and is terrified of losing her job. She may have had a warning the day before about something. You don't know.
