To ask how much you drink?

Just that really. Bit worried that I might drink a bit too much. I was always a party animal Pre-children, and now I have two small DCs I don't drink anywhere near as much as I did, but still have at least one weekend night out with friends/ DP where I get quite, erm, merry, plus a glass of wine or two most nights.

I find it hard to judge what is the norm as most of my friends don't have children yet and go out a lot, but most of the mum friends I have met at toddler groups (who are fab) really drink very little on a regular basis, maybe the odd big night out, so I'm not really sure where I fit in!

Just been thinking about it a bit lately and reckon I'd feel healthier and a lot less sluggish if I laid off it a bit...

Also meant to add I never drink around the kids (only glass or twi of wine when kids in bed) or wouldn't get merry unless DP hadn't been drinking and fully in charge

I don't drink anything. I was never a big drinker, the most I would drink was about 2 glasses of wine if I went out or at Christmas. In the past 2 years or so if I drink even so much as a shandy I get a migraine so I don't bother.

Depends on where I am.

I have nights where I drink a stupid amount to the point of throwing up and nearly passing out. There's night's where I can go to the pub and only have a couple of pints.

When I have my son I don't drink at all

I don't at all.

Only because I don't like the taste much and I get really ill.

I'd like to be able to relax with a drink but I had ONE koppaberg last weekend (last drink before that was probably 2 years ago) and i was ill the whole next day :(

Not a great deal - I drink on Friday and Saturdays and dh and I either share a 6 pack of buds or a bottle wine each evening, probably a little more if we go out (aim is once a month, usually less often though, sadly) and sometimes one other night a week if I go out with friends/sister - similar sort of amount.

I drink nearly nothing so not a normal comparison - one or two G and T's on holiday, a glass of wine at Christmas and that's it. Only because I am usually in charge of small children and I'm a control freak

I drink at home in the evenings probably one or two nights per week. I have a bottle of Magners or similar or perhaps one or two glasses of wine.
I go out for a drink with a friend from work about once a fortnight and we share a bottle of wine.
I go out "properly" about four or five times a year and that involves drinking the equivalent of about a bottle or two of wine and a few shots. I never drink myself sick or unconscious anymore.
I think I probably drink less than most people.
Prior to having my son I had my own pub and used to drink daily so I've cut back considerably.

I probably have a glass or two of wine or a can of lager about 3 nights a week - don't know what that is in units.
I don't often go out and never get drunk any more as I seem to skip the fun bit nowadays, and go directly to the ill bit.

The night out wouldn't bother me at all, I mean I know binge drinking is 'bad' but as long as you are a happy drunk I honestly dont see any problem in it at all. Having to have a drink - even one - every night though is a different thing.

I've been thinking about my drinking a lot recently (getting old and fat) and am working on alcohol free nights. I aim to have at least 4 alcohol free nights out of every 7 (I go out a lot and me and DP like our wine). Would something like that work for you as an approach?

To add, I don't think you're drinking at dangerous levels or anything like that, but if you psychologically need a drink every night, I don't think that's a healthy place to be.

I'm a dirty binge drinker.

Probably go out (or in) once a month and have quite a bit (ie I get drunk )

In between maybe two or three drinks but that's it.

DH & I drink 3 bottles of wine between us in a week. So about a bottle & a half. We don't drink Mon-Wed/Thu. I think that's ok, but much more would be pushing it.

I drink very little. Once a month and less than a glass - if that. It doesn't matter though OP really. If you feel you should cut down then I would go with your gut. The recommendation for women is around a standar wine per day - so the days when you binge you are probably well over that. Why don't you try cutting down on your night off and limiting your evening glass to just one glass? See how you go with that?

Not much here either, just find it easier to cope during week if I don't drink and anyway, I suppose I feel I'm far too fond of wine and it would be a real easy habit for me to form, PLUS bad for diet (!) AND dh just not that into iot and I find it dull drinking on my own.

Drink when I go out obv. Not to the pt of puking (usually) nowadays but def to the pt of feeling a bit shook the next day. Prob do that every other week. And when I don't go out might have a glass or two at home at wkend.

I find the idea of not drinking ever,at all as unappealing as the idea of getting absolutely plastered.

But I think I always like to be in the position where I can not drink for a couple of nights without giving it a second thought.I think if that's difficult then cutting down a bit should be considered.

I would have thought a couple of alcohol free days a week would be a good goal.

I think I'm a bit of a binge drinker

I don't drink often, except the occasional shandy on a sunny day, but when I do I tend to let rip.

I usually go out with friends once a week and get drunk. On our family dinner out I will usually have one/two glasses of wine. On Saturdays I perhaps drink half a bottle. The other weekdays and Sundays I drink half a glass or nothing. I always have one day a week where I drink nothing at all just to limit dependency.

I normally share a bottle of wine with DH over a weekend (sounds very lame, I know) and two or three times a year have a night out with my friends where I drink too much.

Going by recommended guidelines, yes, you're drinking a bit too much. I think the recommendation is up to 2-3 units per day, up to 5 times per week. A 125ml glass is about one unit, depending on the strength of the wine. Would it bother you if you had a couple of alcohol free evenings per week? It's really easily to become 'psychologically' addicted to something like I am with chocolate and cake and it can be a good idea to break the habit if you think it's affecting your health or energy levels.

I'm a binge drinker as well Blush

I don't drink wine or beer and that's what you tend to be offered. Weeks go by without a drink then I'll have too much vodka in one session and swear off it again.

I drink about 4 nights a week, about 3 glasses of wine on those nights. I don't drink strong wine 11.5% or 12%.

Ooh think I might buck the trend here, I don't drink sun, min, tues or weds but on thurs, fri and sat DH and I drink at least a bottle of wine each. So three bottles a week. Sometimes with a couple of beers first.
We are aware that it is prob a bit much but are kind of habitual. We do obviously have breaks here and there but the above is typical.
I get paranoid every now and again and have a liver test but always ok.

I drink a lot less than I used to. Usually nowt at all Mon-Thurs, then 2-3 glasses on each weekend night, maybe a cocktail as well on Sat. OP, like you I got a bit worried about my drinking about a year ago, gave up for about a month then went back on it but less than before. Feel LOADS better not having hangovers any more!

But if it were possible to become drunk on crisps and chocolate I would be constantly pissed.
