Apparently all teenagers go to Newquay after GCSEs. Absolutely everyone.

I have said 'No'. I mean No.

I am a neglectful relaxed kind on mother but Ithe line must be drawn somewhere and this is it.

AIBU?

I don't know.

What goes on in Newquay?

YANBU. If this insanity is still in vogue when the DS's are 16, they will not be going.

What doesn't 'go on' in Newquay?

I suspect some underage drinking, shagging and illicit/illegal substance misuse.

yes it might be fun, but no, i don't want my baby doing it.

next year?

why don't you tell her that you'll think about it during the year and see how mature and responsible she is by this time next year.

Then, next year, if you feel the same - say no! Grin

I dunno I kinda think that people who do all their rebelling and naughtiness and bad behaviour at 16 have got it all out of their system by the time the hit their 20's.

Definitely not! We put our foot down over the same thing 2 years ago. And that was the year 2 kids died in separate drunken accidents.

There is nothing to do there after dark except drink and the clubs wont let them in without ID so they all go to the beach where it all happens....

Newquay is the UK equivalent of Ibiza.... drink, drugs, vomiting, lots of arrests... underage drinking, the occasional death due to idiotic drunken behavour, and lots of stomach pumping.

I wouldnt let my teen go, or if they did, I would go with them and completely piss on their parade.

If she is 16 and is going with other 16 year olds why not? You have to let the apron strings go at some point.
